I read this book in 2020 and If I remember correctly it was a fairly recent book so like 2015-2020 release I think 2018 but I can’t remember ? It’s about this girl who gets her memory erased. (Spoilers from here on out). She doesn’t know she got her memory erased of course. Book opens with her waking up and asking her stepmother if she can throw a party which her mother remarks is weird for her to ask but she can. Her father died and now she lives with her stepmother. She has a weird neighbor who’s an old lady and she lives upstairs. The old lady has paintings and cats? I believe the girl takes one of the paintings. The girl has also renamed herself. She discovers she got her memory erased by stumbling on the doctors office? She tells of how she saw a girl at a mall and wanted to be like that girl and that she wanted her to “trade places with me” I forgot to mention the book takes place in the near future so there’s new tech like the memory erasing and etc but not sci fi like flying cars and etc. I hope you guys can help and thank you in advance!

I wish but it wasn’t some terrorist memory erase, she just wanted to erase some of her memories to become a “better person”
