I remember this book being very heavily inspired by Dante’s Inferno. It was definitely a man in a city and somehow he is underground in what I believe was the subways.

He then traveled in levels through hell, until he reached the center. I believe he saw Satan, with the three heads and all, and then traveled back up (I vaguely remember a change of heart or something similar).Again, it was very similar to Dante’s Inferno.

I remember the cover of the book being black with red yellow and orange colorations, sort of like fire. The title was also very little and had the word hell in it. (I keep thinking of Through Hell or To Hell but neither have shown up).

I read it a long time ago, so the book had to be 10-15 years old. I also believe that it was written by a man although I am not sure.
