Mistakenly think husband's plane has crashed - romance / marriage of convenience

I think this was written in the 1980s or very early 90s. Couple in an arranged, non-platonic marriage. Early in the story she hears that his plane has crashed. She's visibly upset in front of staff who thinks she doesn't care. Then they find out he wasn't on the plane. But now her secret is out. I can't remember the title or the author, just roughly when I read it.
