emily shupe | 4 comments hello all! i’m trying to remember this book that i read in late elementary/early middle school (i’m now 22). it was about this girl who was part of an exchange program and went to live with a family in like virgina or something (the dad of the new family was a miner which i why i guessed virginia). i remember the mine that dad worked in had an accident and the girl saw it on the tv at school. also, there was maybe like a big gap between the house and the rest of the town so they had to use like a rickety old bridge to get to the house? any and all suggestions welcome!

Capn | 3506 comments Hi Emily,

If you can edit your Header to include terms like "mining town, rickety bridge", "mine accident on TV", you might get this solved so much faster! (Also the years, 2010-2014ish or whatever). ;)

Do you remember anything about the family? Another girl the same age? Siblings? Anything about the type of house they lived in (poorer or different to that of the protagonist's?).

Capn | 3506 comments Oh dear! Thanks so much for letting us know it had been solved!

Yeah, there's a Goodreads glitch that double sends entries every so often. I've been a victim.

Thanks for the update. :)
