I'd say yes for all three

Hah, see, to me, out of those three, it's the third one that looks most like it's been heavily photoshopped and the first and middle ones that look most like natural photos!
IDK!?!?!?!

LOL, thanks Sophie!
Now I need to decide what to read dammit.

At least it's not another Listopia task -- those seem easy, but I get spoiled for choice looking through dozens and dozens of pages of lists!

Photoshop started with a photo. This might be why I get in trouble at SRC.

The Jane Austen Book Club has 2005. Not read it, so can't tell you if it's any good, lol!

I saw that one: also The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency since I need to go south.

message 358: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments That's the good thing about "the" titles, you can use the article if it helps, lol.

Thank you, needs to be N-Z

Considering The Big Over Easy or The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency

message 361: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments *headdesk* yeah, forgot that for a moment, lol.

message 362: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I've only read #3 in The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. The writing style didn't work for me, but I know loads of people that love them!

message 363: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8050 comments The Big Over Easy is a hoot. The sequel The Fourth Bear (Nursery Crime, #2) by Jasper Fforde is even better, I think.

message 364: by Lyndi (mibookobsession) (last edited Apr 10, 2022 05:48AM) (new)

Lyndi (mibookobsession) (mibookobsession) | 149 comments I had the task of finding the name of the tarot card "the Fool" in the text or title. I chose Marissa Meyer's Heartless by Marissa Meyer in chapter 40, page 345. "He was here. He had come for her. The Fool had come. "
I was singing Painting the Roses Red the whole time I was reading this book lol.

message 365: by Teri-K (new)

Teri-K | 4 comments I've realized that my reading goals have changed a lot recently, and this challenge won't work for me. So you can go ahead and take me off of the list. But I'm sure you'll all have lots of fun with this!

Happy reading.

Thanks for the suggestion~ I am going to save it for later because it has odd page numbers. It might come in handy!

Also, this time I have "book with an animal on the cover" and I am choosing the dragon for my animal. I hope he is allowed~~

message 367: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments I'm reading Little Fires Everywhere for my next task and I'm struggling so hard. I find this book horribly boring so far. It has amazing reviews so I'm not sure why I'm having a hard time, but I'm just not clicking with this book on any level!

message 368: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I can sympathise Tricia. The book I just finished for my last task was pretty awful, and also has a lot of good reviews (though they're definitely lowering now that the book has been out a few years). luckily it was super short, or I would have abandoned it and looked for something else.

Next up: A character that is a doctor, title N-Z. I'm reading one at the moment, though don't expect to finish that one for a week or more. Off to hunt through my tbr!

Saar The Book owl | 728 comments Maybe a dumb question, but I'm signing in and I need to fill in 'Reader'. Is this the format you're reading the book in?

that's just you (so put in your name). It's something they've put in in case of eventual team challenges :)

Saar The Book owl | 728 comments So, I put in my first book. Now I need to read it first before I enter another book?

message 373: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10095 comments Mod
yup! Though I think most of us are probably entering the books after we finish them.

The key principle is that you have to read a book for the task before moving to the next one, and you need to read a book for each task (or use the SKIP spell out option to avoid a task)

message 374: by Saar The Book owl (last edited Apr 11, 2022 03:37AM) (new)

Saar The Book owl | 728 comments Ah, oops, that seems more fitting than I did, Cat :)

As it is an individual challenge, not a big deal ;-)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I have another awkward one where my task is to 'read a book that starts with the letter J', yet in order to move south, I need a title starting with N-Z.

Can I use a title with an article, like "The Jungle" or similar to cover both?

I can't remember exactly what my ruling was on this, but if you look in the FAQs at the start I'm sure I put it there. Would copy and paste, but my phone isn't great for that and patients want me to work this afternoon.

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments I am absolutely loving this maze challenge, and am having a lot of fun finding books that fit my tasks, but this one has me stumped. How in the world do I go about finding a book that meets this requirement?

Task: Read a book with the name of the tarot card "The World" in the text or title

You might try Getting Wilde (Immortal Vegas, #1) by Jenn Stark . It's a short cheesy UF based around tarot. Might be in there! I think it's on Kindle Unlimited too.

message 381: by Jenny (new)

Chances are one of them has The World in it.

How do I know which one? Or do I just randomly start reading and hope for the best? Doesn't seem like an efficient system! Lol

If you pick one off of Kindle Unlimited, you can grab it for free, download it to your kindle, open it, and search for The World and it'll show you if it's in there.

It just needs the phrase 'the world'. It doesn't have to refer to the tarot card so text search on an ereader should help.

message 388: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments It does also say it's just looking for the name, not actual use of a tarot card, so "the world" should be one of the easier ones to find, as a lot of books will mention "the world" somewhere in the text ;)

Oh yes, that's MUCH easier! I assumed since it explicitly mentioned the Tarot card, that the reference had to be specific. I have loads of choices if it just needs to say The World in any context. Thanks!!

message 394: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Other option if you don't have an ereader but do have Overdrive through your library: borrow a couple books you're considering reading anyway and are available, open them and then search the terms – I've done that a lot for books I have as paperbacks

The The Last Sun (The Tarot Sequence, #1) by K.D. Edwards series has an Heirophant in it and the third one is out the year. I enjoy the series.

Lyndi (mibookobsession) (mibookobsession) | 149 comments My task was to read a book with a poem in it. I found a verse from My Lost Youth by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in the book The Next Always by Nora Roberts.

"The song and the silence in the heart, That in part are prophecies, and in part Are longings wild and vain."

message 398: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 28 comments okay, i'm getting frustrated. I literally am moving one step forward and one step back. I go forward one move and the next i have only one option and it's back to where i was. I know it's supposed to be hard but i didn't realize it was going to be ridiculously hard. Usually i have two options for the move and then the next task only has one option for the move and it's backwards.

Could you send me a screen shot of your maze so I can check the image is coming up properly. We were only able to test it on the computers/phones we have in my house. Want to make sure there isn't a technical problem for you.
