hbfox | 3 comments I read this book a long time ago, in the early 1990s, about the account of a female journalist as she travels through middle east documenting what she sees. She mainly writes about her conversations with the arab women, their lives as they describe to her, their relationships with their families and similar topics. The author is Jewish, but does not reveal it to many people due to fears that her access to people may be impacted. She writes about how the wealthy arabs spend their money, have homes in the UK and other parts of Europe, maintaining them with the help of a lot of staff. She also describes typical gatherings in Jeddah, and the way families celebrate. She documents her distinct observations in each middle-eastern country she visits like Kuwait, Bahrain, etc.

hbfox | 3 comments It was such an intense book. The plain description of the happenings in some women's lives in the book made it even more painful.
