Emmy (ouija_boyrd) | 5 comments I finished the book! I had a lot of fun with this story, but the more I think about it the more I'm a bit conflicted (and disappointed). I'm excited to see what everyone thinks, though!!!

April Teesdale (aprilteesdale) | 46 comments I'm in. I've been looking for a good space horror.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments i'm not usually a fan of sci-fi but i'm going to give this a try. It may be later in the month, though. I'm on the wait list at my library so I'm going to see how fast that moves along before I buy it.

Paula (pad1069) | 60 comments I bit the bullet and bought this on Amazon. It was so good I binge read it. It's excellent space horror - S. A. Barnes uses a lot of themes from other movies and books, blending them all together to create something new, entertaining and frightening.

I'm interested in what other members think about the themes and from where she borrowed them. Looking forward to the discussion about this one.

Giovanni Farotto (farotto) | 85 comments I totally loved the first half of the story, but I was a bit bored by the second part, I found it less interesting. anyway, it was a very enjoyable read

Leigh Taylor | 71 comments I'm also at the part where they just found the ship. Like it so far

Giovanni Farotto (farotto) | 85 comments that one is most intriguing.
and just get ready for when they get on it, it's shivers all the way through

Julie Sveen | 1 comments Long time lurker coming in to say I just finished this because I couldn’t stop reading, and I LOVED it!! Thanks to this marvellous group for the suggestion!:) Even managed to write a review haha..

Thomas Bruso | 15 comments I ordered a copy and can't wait to dive in!

My copy of the book arrived last night. Not sure when I'll get the chance to start reading. I'm glad so many others are enjoying it.

Same here!!!

Ginger | 3938 comments Too many books and not enough time to read but I've got to find a way to fit this one in for the month! LOL
It has a really cool plot and would love to join for the group read.

I agree. I'm about halfway through and am starting to get a little bored, so I started something else because if i get to bored i will dnf it and I'd rather not.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Uh oh, that’s not good to hear Scott.

Emmy (ouija_boyrd) | 5 comments i finished the book so i'm down to chat with others who have finished it!! i dont wanna spoil anything but it's so hard!!

WendyB | 5136 comments Mod
Just got started and am picturing Voller looking like Johns and Kovalik looking like Carolyn Fry from the movie Pitch Black. Too bad there won't be a Riddick.

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments Mod
I just picked up CACKLE (that I meant to read last year), so planning on starting this book later in the week!

October | 36 comments I just finished this over the weekend. I really enjoyed it. It gave me alot of ghost ship the movie vibes.

Michelle | 307 comments I'm listening to the audiobook. I'm on chapter 14, and loving the scenes on the Aurora. Easy to imagine a space Titanic.

April Moonlight Social Club (april-mlsc) | 10 comments Listening to the book when I am at work. Currently on chapter 28. The second half does get a bit boring but I will finish it out. I am not usually drawn to space-type spooky but I have really enjoyed this story so far.

Andrew Tucker | 23 comments Starting this week!

Angie (angiebelle440) | 4 comments Very excited about this one- I’m holding it in my hand, gonna start soon.

message 73: by John (new) - rated it 4 stars

John Not quite what I expected - you'll see - but well worth the read. A real Page Turner: I read it in two days. Didn't want to put it down. Very well written.

Trustno1 (carosabotage) | 58 comments Finished it today and just loved it. Claire was such a well written character and things really got intense! I read a book with a very similiar premise not too far ago (The Ghost Line), but I enjoyed Dead Silence so much more, probably also due to taking more time to make the characters believable.

JasonA (jasonaa) I'm about halfway thru and really liking it so far. Agree with October on the Ghost Ship vibes. There's a fair amount of Event Horizon mixed in too.

inciminci | 655 comments I'm 50% in now, I like it too and completely agree with the comparisons to Ghost Ship and Event Horizon. I actually re-watched Event Horizon yesterday because the book reminded me of it, especially the (view spoiler).

I've never seen Event Horizon. I'll have to give it a watch.

Michelle | 307 comments I finished Dead Silence yesterday and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great and I really liked the psychological aspect. Glad I read it.

Michelle, I was in my teens when it was first released and back then I thought it was the most horrifying film and concept of a film, I really felt dread watching it. Rewatching it I wasn't scared at all, it has its flaws but I would recommend it anyway 😊
The book is really intriguing, like a murderous space puzzle...

JasonA (jasonaa) Just finished. I thought the first half was a lot better than the second half, but still enjoyed it.

October wrote: "I just finished this over the weekend. I really enjoyed it. It gave me alot of ghost ship the movie vibes."

Started yesterday, and that was EXACTLY what came to mind: Ghost Ship!

Chandler | 266 comments I've had much opportunity to read lately. I'll start this one soon. After The Luminous Dead, I'm keeping my expectations low with another sci-fi book. Although people seem to be more positive about this one....

Lindsay (heavyefinmetal) | 72 comments Ghost Ship is one of my favourite underrated horror movies so this makes me excited :D I'm currently still 7th in line in my library holds, but they have 5 copies. I'm hoping by next week I'll get it.

I loved that movie so much--I'm more than 1/2 way through the book, and the vibes are strong here! (I need a rewatch of that after this!!)

WendyB | 5136 comments Mod
I'm just over 100 pages in and really enjoying the creepy vibes.

This book has really captured my attention (and is keeping it!)

Andrew Tucker | 23 comments Just finished this. I loved the creepy vibe and all the strange happenings on board the Aurora that are eventually explained.

(view spoiler)

Mona Hanna | 18 comments Only 50ish pages in but I am liking it more then I thought I would at this point.

message 89: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Gessel (danielmgessel) Library waiting list for me too.

Are we talking this “Ghost Ship”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_S...?

I agree completely! Just finished today. :)

Ricardo Moreno Mauro | 18 comments I am about 30% so far is OK. Some images are very good, not creepy or scary, but macabres. Sometimes the actitude of the first character is quite repetitive (OK I a know you have going through, do not keep telling me!!!).

Let´s see how it goes..

Angie (angiebelle440) | 4 comments This one gave me some excellent images that I’m going to keep with me- one particular about how stuff freezes in space—— can’t wait to talk about it with y’all.

Ricardo Moreno Mauro | 18 comments 45%, and nothing happens

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments My library hold came in. It always takes forever so what a surprise. Sci-fi isn’t my thing but I’m gonna try this. Starting Monday.

It's almost more of a mystery set in outerspace.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments That might be ok. I’ll try Kimberly.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I started it this morning. Oh Kimberly, your so clever. I’m up to chapter 5.

Chandler | 266 comments I haven't had much opportunity to read this week but I did start it. I'm on Chapter 7. I'm liking it so far :) Revealing just enough information to move the story along but hiding enough of it to keep the mystery up. Hoping to knock out a few more chapters today.

WendyB | 5136 comments Mod
I liked this story but thought the characters were a bit stereotypical.
