milly | 7 comments i’m desperately trying to find this book, it’s been bugging me for months. i read it once when i was in primary school around 2013 and never thought about it until a few months ago😭
it’s set sometime during or post WW2 because i remember winston churchill being mentioned in regards to food rations. i have a feeling it was not in england but that could be wrong. i remember they put candles in their windows and their house they were in (maybe orphans) had a domed roof somewhere and they basically had free range of the house. i am 60% sure that there was something to do with herpatology and snakes?
i think it had a blue cover

please let me know if you can think of anything that might be related, i am determined to find it!!

ok i found it!!! thank god. this was in the back of my mind constantly and it was driving me mad. i finally found it at a random 2nd hand book stall at a local market - my friend picked it up and said "omg remember this book?" and i nearly cried tears of joy. it is called The Kensington Reptilarium and i got some details right. published 2013, post WW2, reptiles and set not in england (AUSTRALIA REPRESENT). anyway i'm sure no-one else cares or sees this but i am so so happy and i haven't even re-read it yet!

Great. Glad you found your book, milly. Old fashioned (offline) serendipity. Thanks for the update.
