Devoted in Death (Spoiler Zone)
Oh Yay Michelle! I was getting worried about you! You can't leave me for more than a day or two!! lol I'm starting this over the weekend - I hope. :)
Sorry Sandra & Penni. Next time I'll give warning. Lol. I'm reading I'm between other stuff but I actually want to sit down and read Devoted. After running around today I'm hoping earliest . . .? Sunday to start.
Sounds good Michelle. I've been insanely busy also...I've gotten very little reading done so far this month.

I'll be there. I'm looking forward to re-reading them with you all. I found In Death late and didn't start with this group until you were over halfway in.
I'd be interested if we have any members that bought and/or read Naked in Death when it first came out? I came to the series late, too. I think I started reading when there were 10-15 books in print.

Most definitely! Love to have you read & discuss with us, Sheery.

I have the books with the Blue Lady covers also but didn't purchase them when first released. I looked for them later to add to my collection. I'm really not sure how many of the books were already released when I started the series...several of them for sure.

I picked up Naked in Death when the lady at our local used bookstore recommended it! Boy, did she do me a favor!
Thanks for the welcome. I started the book and am sucked in already. Ella Loo and Darryl are narcissistic!I came to the series late. I started it when Remember When was written. I fell in love with Eve and Roark in the second half of that book then went back and started with Naked in Death.
I do know how to spell Roarke, btw. I can't edit on my GR app on my phone and auto correct changed his name.
I got started on this one last night...immediately thought of Bonnie & Clyde. I can't wait to see Eve tangle with these 2.
Just got an email from the library, Devoted is waiting for me, YIPEE!!! Perfect timing cause I finished Dark Lover in the wee hours of this morning. Great way to start the weekend :)
Sandra ~ ♥ Cross My Heart ♥ wrote: "I got started on this one last night...immediately thought of Bonnie & Clyde. I can't wait to see Eve tangle with these 2."Yeah, except Bonnie and Clyde (view spoiler)
Ella Loo and Darryl made me think of Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis in Natural Born Killers when I started the book yesterday.
Just checking. Can I write spoilers here like with the buddy reads? Just for purposes of using goodreads app or browser.
How about we give it a couple more days & then make this a Spoiler Zone? There are 3 or 4 of us reading Devoted now, I think. And I realize this entire thread does contain spoilers from the original discussions but those are in past posts. Today's the 10th, we can post freely on the 13th. Will that work?
I'm really enjoying this book. I can't wait to discuss it. I don't know if I'll finish it before this becomes a Spoiler zone, though. If not, I'll just stay away until I do. :)
I'm enjoying it also. I really like Banner...love meeting a new character. Won't say more until this is a spoiler zone.
13 October , you must come round soon. Just finished the first chapter. Allow me to say that I'm reading it and thinking you shouldn't have headed to NY. Eve's gonna stop you. Know what I mean?
" Look at her, just at her and she's mine. My one thing I wanted long before I knew to want her."I think I need to talk Michelle's angels and fairies about getting a Roarke for myself.

I've amended it to someone that strongly resembles him Maybe not in looks but the rest ? Yes please.
Every woman deserves her own version of Roarke...and you're right Michelle, it's not all about the looks (although they don't hurt none), it's about the way he treats her, thinks of her as if she is his everything - still seems amazed that she's "his". Robb does an outstanding job relaying Roarke's feelings not only through his actions & words, but also through his thoughts. (ditto for Eve)

Can I get my own Roarke delivered with Amazon Prime?
"Prime" sure describes Roarke! lol
Finished Devoted in Death & loved it! This is a Spoiler Zone starting tomorrow, Tues., Oct. 13. So many good things about this book...can't wait to discuss!

LOL I think 'Prime' is perfect for Roarke, too. I'm not done with the book yet but will be back when I am. There's already a lot I want to discuss but want to avoid the spoilers.
Sounds good Sheery! I will go ahead and say that both Eve and Peabody were magnificent in this one...and there's a particular scene I'm thinking about when I say that.
it's the morning of the 13th my side. I'm reading slowly. Because I like reading and sharing/ venting. I'll wait for someone your side to open the floor as it were.
Notice: This is a Spoiler Zone!
I really enjoyed Devoted. Love the character development as always. I liked the intro of Deputy Banner...nice seeing the NYPD & Roarke's home through his new eyes. I love to see him stay in NY & join the force there. There are some great moments in this one - Eve giving Feeney the Magic Coat!! omg loved his reaction! Bad*ss Peabody when she & Eve finally got the those two in interview...she even surprised Eve. Roarke - always Roarke - some great Roarke & Eve quotes & moments. I actually enjoyed this case...it's just fascinating to see/hear/read the case as Eve & company methodically picks through it - piece by piece unraveling the mystery of it all. This one was interesting as there was no connection between killers & victims - just random picks, making it much tougher to figure out. Great read over all!

I feel like I'm the only one that thought it so-so. I enjoyed Festive much more than this one. I actually felt there was a lot less Roarke than usual. The police procedural part was excellent, as always, but I'm used to a little more "oomph" I guess.
The best scenes IMHO was Roarke seeing Banner in his house and the scenes between the two captives.
I'm not sure why but this one just clicked for me. I liked that the case was different - not just one insane madman killing people. The complete disregard for human life that these 2 displayed just blew my mind. It was random, it wasn't personal, it was strictly for their own pleasure - feeding their sickness. I just loved seeing Eve & Peabody rip them both to pieces in the end. Go Peabody!!
I couldn't re listen to this one right away. I think because I was so emtional over the guy who into music and the last two victims they found alive. I was so touched by them. It was definitely a book hangover but not in a bad way. I thought it was good and had fantastic moments but it was definitely one that had some hard parts for me. I haven't even gotten thru the novella yet. I listened to the first or second chapter but haven't gone back to finish yet.
So agree with you Sandra. But this wasn't a favourite. Top 5 yes. And that scene with Roarke coming home to find Banner not just in his home but in Eve's office. Reminded me of the showdown between him and Webster. The magic coat scene was just priceless topped by McNab whispering into Eve's ear. More and more her whole squad is becoming prominent into the story. Anybody else wondering if the street vender is Tiko? I did not expect Baxter to be so nervous. I should have but it was nice seeing him all papa bear. Peabody you go girl. And speaking of. What a lovely tableaux of her dad taking McNab to The tree. Wedding bells???

i had a big smile every time Eve had the fuzzy cap on. She doesn't come out and say it but that is just as special as the special coat to Feeney.
