boy exploring space, man with massive yellow gloves

Please help me! I read this book about 6 years ago and can't remember much.

Its really fuzzy, but I rember that it is a series of books with a young boy as the main character as he explores space or something. One vivid detail is that there is a man with small arms and MASSIVE yellow gloves. I don't know if he is a good or bad guy, but I know that he might be associated with a tall woman who dresses in pink. There is also a team of people, the good guys that go around and do stuff. I also remember a prison that i think is purple. I read it about 2014-2016. Like I said, its really fuzzy, but the main detail is the man with the massive yellow gloves.

the boy is probably about 10-12 and it is a chapter book that has some pictures in it.

Um... I think that there was about 5-6 books in the series, and I would classify It as just fiction.

Thanks for the guess, but that's not it. The main character is not the one with the gloves.
