*I'm not complaining; I honestly don't know how to determine this.

I’m glad you asked, cause I don’t have a clue either.

You have to find out who published it then just google it, most are pretty easy to tell as they will call out they self publish things or they will be owned/run by the author. Some times it can be tough to tell even doing that.

It's tricky. If I don't recognize the publisher, I Google it. In this case I found an author bio that described him as a full-time indie author. The cover looked very indie as well. I could be wrong, so let me know if you learn otherwise.

We already got that up. Do you want to nominate another one?

I think this is self-published."
Shite!
The Light Fantastic for fantasy.
Can you read the Skyward series as a standalone without the other books in that Sanderson world?
Skyward isn't connected to any other series, but I do recommend reading each book in that series in order.

– Books must be published by the first, be available internationally, and available in print form.
– After 24-48 hours, 8 books from each genre will be chosen at random from the selection, using a random generator online.
– Only ONE nomination per person (EITHER sci-fi OR fantasy).
– If books are part of a series, they must be the first, unless the group has already read the previous book(s). (you can see our previous group reads here)
– No authors nominating their own works.
– No self-published or ebook-only books — we want our BotM to be accessible to as many members as possible!
