YA dystopian short story about the last person to go to moon after Earth was destroyed by climate change (spoilers)

YA short story around 3-5 pages long; read sometime within the last few years (2019-2021) through school, not sure if it was new.

The plot centered on a teen who was the last person transported to the moon after humans destroyed the Earth. The moon is inhabited by moon creatures (can't remember their name, maybe starts with a Q?) who can tell the future and the only rule is to maintain peace. She meets with one of the creatures to find out if she ever returns to Earth and...(BIG SPOILER):


she kills the creature, eliciting a war between the two species. As a result, she is sent back to live alone on Earth and she is back at peace with nature.

Yes, it was a short story, and I don't think it was a part of a collection. Still not sure what grade I read it but I contacted both possible teachers and neither had any recollection of the story.
