E’Maree The plot scenes I remember was when the mc's sister leaves her body and returns and she speaks another language because she's been watching the town at the top of a hill. Another scene I remember is her village dies at the bottom of a lake that they tried to use to escape but it was blocked off and they all drowned. I think the mc's name was red or something and I think they were fairies or something like that. Also they were taking people from the place the mc lived and they were making them work. The people were "disappearing" And at the end I think she confronts the man that betrayed her village. And in the beginning I think it starts like I'm an average girl or something.

How old is the girl?

Is this book for kids, teens, or adults?

E’Maree I read it in about 2018 or 2019. The book is for older children/teenagers, and I can't remember how old the main character was but about 11-14.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5529 comments Gullstruck Island, also published as The Lost Conspiracy, by Frances Hardinge? The main character is called Hathin, and her sister is Arilou - Arilou can leave her body / astral project, and speaks a language that no one can understand until Hathin realises that it's the language of a tribe who live on a mountin, which Arilou has been 'visiting'.
