SOLVED. YA coming of age book about a girl who gets Diabetes, and trying to cope with her new restrictions and her relationship with her bff. I think not being able to eat a candy bar is one issue that comes up. Late 80s early 90s. [s]

TBH I'm not sure if this was a book or possibly even a tv show. A young girl gets diagnosed with diabetes and she's upset because it changes her life, eating habits and her relationship with her friend. She has to deal with insulin shots. I think there was a part about them being able to eat candy bars, and after she is diagnosed her friend ends up hiding candy bars from her but still tries to eat them behind her back. I think right before she is diagnosed she has an accident and wets her pants. She also has to deal with her BFF finding a new friend to hang out with and starts to feel left out. **spoiler**

At some point they might be at a baseball game or outdoor game and the main character notices another kid starts to act weird and maybe even wets their pants and starts having an insulin episode, she realizes what's happening. She runs to her friend who she knows is hiding a candy bar in her pocket and makes her give it to her so she can help the kid. That's what I can remember, and it had to be in the late 80s or early 90s .
