This is a new to me author and series...and it took a bit of digging to find it on the list.
I really enjoyed it! The familiar gods are in a unique world, and heroine Cat has an interesting relationship with them. Her story (past, future prediction) slowly unwinds, but the story isn't slow at all. It starts with attracting a warlord's attention, which Cat is NOT happy about, an abduction, and a new life/moving into her destiny.
This is a trilogy, and I've already checked out the next book (I love belonging to an English digital library!!! It's so great to find new books and authors to love.)

Looking forward to shelf day!

Review:
Dylan is just looking for a hook up and meets Reese at a wedding and have a unforgettable encounter. Reese plays her game until he wants more but will he be able to get what he wants or will her listening behind closed doors destroy what she thought they had. This book is hot and full of crazy characters.

Sherakeren's First Date by Susan Trombley
# pages: 314
Date finished: 03/25/22 (month/day/year)
Rating: ★★★★☆
Susan Trombley is an author that I like to read for her monster romance. She has a way of writing bug alien romance lovable. The problem common to many self published author is a solid editing and this author is no exception.
Nevertheless she has a way of writing interesting stories within the constrains of scifi romance centering on character and relationship development.
This offering is darker and more in tune with the previous Into the deadfall series....Children of the deadfall is a spin-off. It was a good choice to divide Valerie's story in three books so all her mates have their own story to tell and the time to unfold.
So excited for Friak's book because this character was introduced in another of her series and hope for an epic villain redeem.

Royal Savage by Victoria Ashley
Pages: 312
Finished: 3/29/2022
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Royal no longer thinks his life is worth living and he is just making it to the next day. Avalon appears in his life and he wants and needs her but does not know if he is deserving her. He has had his world torn apart and thinks that he is no longer worthy but she shows him that he is worth loving and that he can love again. It takes her to bring him back from his darkness especially when he learns that the people he thought he should be able to trust did the most harm.

Don’t know yet what I’ll be reading for this week shelf.
Edit: reading for Paranormal Romance shelf

Thoughts:
This was a fun mystery. Vampires like to get away from it all as well, and Vivian, who has gone by various names in the past, is running a resort in the very chilly wilds of Alaska. A stranger is found dead in a soon-to-be-occupied guest room, ruining the carpet and causing all sorts of problems.
This is the start of the series, and has been revised from the first published version (according to the author). The vampire lore was familiar, with some small twists and jabs at other imaginings of vampires. The characters and their interaction are interesting, and frequently a bit humorous. The conclusion was also satisfying and danger tinged.
I want to see where this series goes.

I found the plot a bit too generic and character development left a bit to be desired. The heroine was quite immature even if she was sheltered by her sister...there is no excuse for how unprepared for life she was in general.
The barbarian hero was not convincing either so the overall story fell flat for me.

Thoughts:
The second book in this trilogy got off to a rather gut-wrenching start...and proved once again that clear communication is vital to a good relationship (but, that would spoil the stories, wouldn't it? Though it would be preferable in RL...)
"Cat" Catalia Fisa's true identity is out, and it takes a bit to find a balance, but she and Griffen have a mutual goal, with the Gods apparently backing them.
There are battles and mayhem, laughter & snark, wonderful romance and a satisfying end...that also makes you want to jump right in to the final book of the trilogy. Which I did.
I enjoyed it very much, and am pleased again to be introduced to new2me books & authors thanks to Bingo.

Shelf #6: Urban Fantasy (+ SOS' UF & SOS' UF w/romantic elements)
Crowbones by Anne Bishop
Shelved 73 times as Urban Fantasy
#page: 384
Date finished: 03/14/22 (month/day/year)
Rating: ★★★★★
Thoughts:
This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year...I re-read the previous books in February, and just couldn't wait to get my hands on Crowbones. It absolutely did not disappoint.
Anne Bishop's books have depth and nuance. There are interesting shifts in perspectives, rich characterization and fascinating plots. (Yeah, I love her work!) One of the things I loved most about this one was the catch-up with characters. The first two novels of The Others focused on different sets of people, so I was thrilled to see how Vicki was doing, and loved the overlap with a character from Bennett, as well as some cameos from the Courtyard.
Anne Bishop's books remain firmly on my auto-pre-order list, and I can't wait for the next books.
