I really liked this first book in the Iron Druid series. This is my first time reading from Kevin Hearne and to be honest I don't read male authors... as a romance reader, it's a new experience for me. While this is very much action packed and NOT romance, this was a great intro the world that is built.
The Good:
I really liked Atticus's character. He was fun as a narrator and I enjoyed his sarcasm and quips. I especially liked his relationship with Oberon. That was so cool. I've read a book before with a talking dog and it got really annoying after a while but this was a nice change. Oberon was an awesome sidekick and his commentary really added to the overall story that was taking place.
I also liked the intro to Irish mythology. I've seen it in passing or encapsulated by the phrase Tuatha De Daanan but this is the first book I've ever read that dives really deep into the pantheon. I also like that there is potential for other mythologies from this series. Kinda like with Kate Daniels with the changing mythologies with each book.
The Bad:
At times I felt like Atticus was invincible. While I know he isn't, he has access to a lot of powers and that can get overwhelming at times. He had times of mortal pain and adversity but at the end of the day, he still had A LOT of powers.
I'll be continuing this series.

Book: Acheron
Finished: 4/30
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
The first half of this book was full of angst as Acheron underwent the cruelest treatment you could ever imagine. It was heart wrenching and sad. His sister and her various screw ups, though well intended, upset me too.
the second half of book was kind of mundane Dark hunter stuff. It wasn't emotional anymore and I left let down with his heroine. She was kind of a plain jane with nothing special about her. I wanted more for him.

Book: The Exile by C.T. Adams
Finished: 5/3
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
I was pleasantly surprised because I normally don’t care for Fae stories. This was interesting and a good start to a series.
Brianna Hai is the half human half fae princess of King Liu but she lived in the human realm as her fae siblings were constantly trying to eliminate her as a possible heir to their father’s throne. Brianna’s mother escaped to the human realm and they opened up a store selling antiques and other various trinkets. All of sudden Brianna starts getting attacked by pixies and then a powerful fae comes and tries to glamour her. Brianna’s time on the sidelines of fae politics came to a screeching halt. Brianna proceeded to show her half siblings and the fae world that she wasn’t wallflower they thought she was.
This is a new author for me and I enjoyed Marguerite Gavin’s narration. She is one of my favorites so the audiobook was a treat. Her tone and delivery gave just the right touch of femininity and strength. I will admit there was a lot of alternating POVs. It was a bit excessive, but I was able to follow the story despite that. It was a good foundation book, because it wasn’t an information dump as many authors often do with book 1 of a new series. There was enough information given to satisfy my curiosity and enough left over so that I am interested in continuing on to book 2. If you enjoy political intrigue, betrayals and a tiny hint of romance, then you will enjoy this one.

Book: The Grendel Affair
Shelf: New2You Author
Date Finished: 5/4/15
Rating: ★★★★
What a fun series starter this was. I've had Lisa Shearin on my radar for both this series and her earlier one for a while. I'm so glad that BSB gave me a push to finally read her. Mac is a newbie, a seer for the SPI so she gives the reader an in to this paranormal world without the dreaded infodump. While I saw some Stephanie Plum comparisions, I'm not sure I'd make them. Sure Mac is new at her job, and there are some wacky circumstances (chasing a Queen of England lookalike through a graveyard on a tractor anyone?) Mac isn't as willfully ignorant as Stephanie is. She wants to get better at her job, she wants training and experience and she listens to those with training and experience.
The tale is told from Mac's POV so Ian is a little less fleshed out. But he's solid where he needs to be and he doesn't keep things from Mac "for her own good". This isn't a romance but there are beginnings of a romance between them. Some other characters round out the crew and I enjoyed them all and their banter. Yasha the werewolf was particularly great and I hope we haven't seen the last of the "Viking" SPI team. Overall, this was UF right in my sweet spot, humorous without being overly silly, good world building and characters that I'd like to spend more time with. I'll quickly be reading the second and definitely checking out Lisa Shearin's other series as well.

I read

Sorry I don't know about any of the others. :)

I enjoyed this read by Gail Carriger. What an interesting world she has created.
The Good:
I LOVE bluestocking heroines. The bluer, the better. And spinster heroines, the more spinstier the better. I love that Alexia was both, people were literally afraid to talk to her because of how smart she was and how she wouldn't tolerate BS, and how she didn't pursue TSTL moments though the potential was there.
I also really like Lord Maccon as the hero. Who doesn't love a Scottish Alpha Wolf? I like his pursuit of her, the fact that his instincts caused him to act irrational but ultimately those instincts worked out for him in the end.
I also enjoyed the side characters: Lord Akeldema, Professor Lyall, even Alexia's family, though I didn't appreciate the way they were treating her.
The mystery was interesting and came together nicely at the end.
The Bad:
This book started a little slow for me. Up until about 30%, it was slow going, but beyond that space it moves at a good pace.
Otherwise I'll be continuing with the series.

Team 4 won! So the game is finished!
Thanks for playing the me :D
I enjoyed this round. It was close and we had 2 ways that we could have won. But I still had a good time.

Thanks.

Half-Off Ragnarok by Seanan McGuire 29 Apr 15 ★★★★
this is the third book in the series and the focus is on Verity's older brother, Alex. Alex Price is a scientist currently working at the Columbus Ohio Zoo in the reptile house and studying the local incryptid population and helping his grandparents with his "cousin" Sarah. He is also sort of dating the visiting Australian zoologist working with the big cats. I enjoyed this one, despite the fact the mice were hardly in it. I really enjoyed meeting the "grandparents." And I'm glad it didn't take a lot of time/effort to convince Shelby that Sarah was family and not a threat to Alex.
great game everyone.

My favorite shifter stories are dragons, so I've been looking forward to reading this book. I've never read this author before. I'll definitely be reading the next book. I realy enjoyed the characters and the story. I didn't even mind the triangle. becayse it didm;t play a big part of the book, since Riley is out of the area.

I haven't read her either, glad you've discovered a new dragon series for me Christina!!!! Yes!!!!
