Question. If I use “Readers Choice” for my pick and Book by an Author with F, M or T in first or last name - such as JD Robb aka Nora Roberts, does that work?

I’m still hunting for a better way to search. But, so far I’m coming up empty. Just don’t get why GR removed the links they used to have on the number of users who shelved a book. Why o’why?!

I don't understand about why amazon/goodreads would make it harder to discover books, either.

Temporarily while they wiped out objectionable shelves, sure. But they've heavily censored shelf names where they should go back to letting us discover books in every way possible. It's not like shelves named "alternate reality" "sci fi romance," etc. should be a problem for book sales or promotions.

Yeah, all of it's absurd. I would also like - and don't know why they wouldn't do this since they own GR - a link from Amazon to the book's page on GR. Similar to the GR ⬌ Amz link.

Nah, that'd make too much sense and make it easier and more helpful for readers, which are obviously the lowly men on the totem pole AND they just link to Amz b/c they want it easier for us to buy the book.

Is there some trick to staying out of the beta version long enough to finish reading a couple of sentences of the book description?

I can barely read anything before pops me back into beta to show tumblr style book cover. I just clicked to discard beta eight times trying to read book description.

that happens to me too when i’m using safari as my browser. i usually open goodreads in chrome instead and click the 3 dots for options and choose to request the desktop site. not sure if that will help but that’s the best work around i’ve come up with when i’m using my phone.

Brave and Dolphin browsers for Android can be set to always bring in the desktop sight. I run two browsers, Dophin purely for GR and Firefox for everything else on my phone. It's a pain but it saves requesting desktop every time.
