Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Oh, I didn’t think about that. I haven’t used the app in years, because it doesn’t have the features I like. I use the desktop version in the Internet browser on my phone and laptop instead.

message 52: by Monica S. (new)

Monica S. White | 45 comments Thanks so much for reposting the full info on this nrlew round. I usually use the app, & I haven't thought about double-checking the desktop version for contest info before.

So, this morning, I asked in a different thread if “Be Joyful” (Philippians) by: Warren W. Wiersbe would count as 3 points, but after reading this full posting of Round 4 rules, it sounds like: “Yes”, right?

Also, U’ve been wondering: How are so many people able to post their book selection so that it includes a link or the Goodreads pic of the book cover? 🤷🏽‍♀️

message 53: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I think Warren W. Wiersbe is three points, from my understanding of the rules, too, Monica.

The link and cover are done on the desktop version; this is a feature NOT available in the app. Above the comment box, there is a button called "add book/author." A pop-up window will show up. At the bottom of that are two options: "link" and "cover." Select whichever of the two you want and then search for the book you want in the search box in the pop-up window. There will be an "add" button to the right of the book. Select that, and you'll be good to go.

Round 5 | March 17-30

Letter: D

Category: Color

Only ONE color found in the title, author's name, character's name, or the book cover itself.

-Just a note. I found this page online that lists colors starting with D. Hope it is helpful. https://colorful.fandom.com/wiki/List...

***Please specify the color and where it is found in your finished book post. Thank you. :)

*❀Books must be 150+ pages and started/finished/posted during the round (March 17-30)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Melanie, would a Dark Dusky Rose color count as two points?

So we're each basically restricted to only 1 point this round??

Not necessarily. There are colors with multiple D names (i.e. Deep Deco, Dark Dusty Rose, Delanes Dark Flesh, etc.).
Here are some pages that list colors to see what it looks like:
https://www.color-meanings.com/colors...
https://colorful.fandom.com/wiki/List...

I'm not going to be super picky about the cover color option. If it looks close and you think it is that color, it should be fine.

Hope that helps. :)

Gretchen Garrison | 14 comments I read a "Jar Full of Light" by Rae Walsh during that time period (March 3-4). Obviously, I forgot to post on time. I am sorry about that. I keep forgetting to check on Goodreads.

No worries. It's easy to forget to check - I almost missed posting my book in time this past round.

So if I read a book that has dark brown on the cover, that counts for this round?

Buuut..

Does that disallow any D coloured titles, authors, characters, ...?

No, it doesn't disallow any of those options. You can only choose one option for your color though. So if your book had "deep blue" in the title and a D color on the cover, you can only choose one option for the book. (i.e. you can choose the title or whatever one color the cover has on it).

I hope that helps. :)

Gretchen Garrison | 14 comments My D color selection: Shadow in the Mind's Eye by Janyre Tromp:
Color: Deep Deco (I even verified it side by side using PicMonkey )
https://colorful.fandom.com/wiki/List...

Alternate/ Back-up: Until We All Run Free by Heather Wood - dark brown

Both books were read between 3/18 and earlier this week

Round 6 | March 31-April 13

FINAL ROUND! :D

Letter: I

Category: Goodreads Shelf

Find a shelf that has word(s) beginning with the chosen letter somewhere in the title of the shelf. It can be anyone's shelf (EXCEPT exclusively your own or your teammates); just be sure to leave a link and, if there's more than one page to the shelf, the page number.

You get multiple points for how many "I" words there are in your chosen/linked shelf. Remember, it cannot be a shelf exclusively your own or your teammates.

***Please specify the shelf name and the link to the shelf in your post. Thank you. :)

*❀Books must be 150+ pages and started/finished/posted during the round (March 31-April 13)

Staci | 1071 comments Thanks Melanie. I'm confused on this one.

Let's say I find a shelf titled "Books about Iroquois". That would be one point right? But what would be read? Something from that shelf?

message 77: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Staci, my understanding is you choose any book from the shelf to read. No extra points are given for the book's title.

The easiest way (in my opinion) to find a book for this category is to look at the tagged shelves of any book you want to read and see if you can find something.

For example, I want to read Riverbend Gap. I click on "genres" on the right side of the page and search the shelves. On the first page there is this shelf: "inspirational-romance", which would be one point...but there is also "2022-love-is-in-the-air-challenge", which would be two points for IS and IN. So I would choose that shelf and link to it: https://www.goodreads.com/work/shelve...

I hope that is helpful.

Correct. Points are only from the shelf title. :)
