Finally opened by #15 book and it's... When It's Real
um, not sure how I'll go with this actually lol BUT... it fits this month's shelf, slow-burn, so yay!

I'm 3 behind. It's the wait for the library book to come in that does it. Then I'm reading something else when it comes in so I get even more behind.

LOL! Glad I'm not alone! My slooow book is only 200 or so pages, but it's on astrophysics (for non-science people). Astrophysics! What was I thinking??!!

Lmao! I once read a book on neuroscience for a challenge. That did not go well!

this was one of the first dystopian books I remember reading in elementry/middle school

I tend to avoid the dystopian books...especially during the last two years. I thought I could probably handle one for young adults now. It has been on my list for years.

i wanna say it was one of the books I read in high school mid-2000's...it, along with The Giver and Tomorrow When the Way Began were the first dystopian books I remember

I've just finished!! On a high from finishing lol
So I feel like a surprise spin!! What do you think? Well... not a surprise if I asked hey :p

Finished: Z for Zachariah for last week's read. Gave it 3 *. Quick read, but not a happy read. Doesn't hold out much hope in that dystopian future and presents a negative picture of humankind. A bit of a downer.
Yay! My bonus read is back to my favorite genre - fantasy!

ouch! But at least it was quick!
I'm also on fantasy for bonus, woot! Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle #3) -about time that I finish this trilogy!

Unless, she wonders sneakily, it's not an extra and we can swap it with one of the others in our backlog???
LOL ok let's make it this way...
if you're all caught up then it's an extra because how exciting, right!!
if you're behind especially because you couldn't source the book and may still be waiting on it, swap it with this one (which hopefully you easily have access to) ;)

Finished this week's. I am caught up...except awaiting the bonus one. I am OK with getting another draw tomorrow.

Thanks, Tien, you're very kind to us slower readers

Congrats!
Going back to work in person is an adjustment.

And... yelp!! I pulled a 4th book in a series for my #6 but I haven't yet read 3rd book lol
The reasoning was that I was planning to read book 3 soon (when I was wrapping these books up) but errr... I haven't hahaha
oh wells, I be behind but I'm going to read these books. No excuses now ;p
ETA: they fit 'slow-burn' - another yay!

Well, this should be another quick read...Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage by M.C. Beaton (prompt 3 - UK/Scotland).
And, my bonus book has arrived for my hold!
I may not finish either this week, as I am going camping for several days; but both will be quick reads for me when I get back. Behind but quickly remedied.

Enjoy your camping trip Bea. I'm stuck at home this week as my husband has Covid and I can't even go to the library to collect my bonus book. I was supposed to spend the week arranging for my father's transition from one aged care facility to another but I'm not exactly welcome at either place just now.

Sorry to hear that, Coralie.
Wishing him a speedy recovery!
Wow, Coralie, you are having a tough week! I hope your husband recovers quickly and that things go well for your father. Can you arrange with your library for someone to pick the book up for you?

No need to panic. My daughter will collect it for me. My husband is much better; he said today that he is nearly back to normal. My main worry is my father as I'm responsible for his financial affairs.

That is wonderful news. Two issues down, one to go. Has your father already moved? If not, take a deep breath...shoot, even if he has, take a deep breath. I am sure that you have a good support system to assist you...and phone, email work well for contact with the staff to monitor your father's needs. Prayers.

Well, I finished Cold Magic for the bonus book while camping...502p!
I still need to get last week's cozy mystery (Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage) from the library. It is in...just need to pick it up.
This week is also a cozy mystery (Catering to Nobody by Diane Mott Davidson), so I should be able to catch up, if it is available from the library.
AND, it is. I should have it within a couple of days.

Sounds like a fun week of reading, Bea, with both being cozies :)
Camping sounds divine to me, right now... with all the wet weather we've been having though, it's a dream only lol

I have gotten last week's book and will definitely get it read in a day or so. This week's is available and on hold for me at the Augusta library. I plan a run to it today.
I had a blast camping last week. I met a relatively new group of people, felt included, had some alone time to wander at will, and read my fantasy at night. We had rain the first day and high winds the last night. Other than that, it was nice.
Oh, and a herd of deer wandered the campground at dusk and dawn.

Jayme, I have read some of Diane Mott Davidson's books. Usually a fun and quick read for me.

That is so cool, Bea!
I'm glad you enjoyed the trip.

I read up to something like The Hot Enchilada.
It's the LAST week!!
Week #10:

Keep your eyes peeled for our next mini challenge but don't worry, you have until the end of the month to finish up this one ;)

I am still mid-read of bonus, week 8 & week 9 books (yes, all at the same time!) and managed to draw a Big book once again
