I have been looking for this book for years, I remember first reading it in around 2014-2015 and it seemed relatively new from what I recall and was a physical copy. I think the book cover was of a spiral staircase that was centered on the cover against an either pink or blue cloudy sky.

**SOME SPOILERS AHEAD**

The whole book started with a foreword that said that you can read all of the short stories in any order though they were written in chronological order. I don't remember all the stories, but the first story was following a woman in the Paleolithic era and she went into a cave and I believe got trapped. Another story was following some characters on a space ship and a different one was in the more Victorian era and most of the stories had a female main character and most of them were from that ages of 17-25. I understand this is mostly pretty vague but this is most of what I can recall. I think it also had some other stories ending with death and there was one story that revisited finding that cave that the first girl was buried in as an archeological dig.

Were all the stories by the same author, or was it different authors? You say they were connected by theme -- what was the theme? Was the book short, medium, long, doorstopper? Did you buy it new, or get it at a library?

The entire book was written by one author and I don't quite remember the theme I believe it was along the lines of death and how life connects over centuries? It was medium length somewhere in the 200-300 page range, and I got it from a school library!
