Damien Hi Fishface, what's the name of that book? I'm just finished the Killer of Little Shepherds which is about the Joseph Vacher murders. it's about 30 years after M Dumollard.

I can't remember, but it's on our Martin Dumollard shelf! EDIT: It's called Crimson Petticoats: The Betrayal, Brutality and Bloodshed behind the French Maid Massacres.

Koren (koren56) | 1604 comments Reading The Forever Witness: How Genetic Genealogy Solved a Cold Case Double Murder about the murders of Jay Cook and Tanya Cuylenborg. The case sounds familiar and I think I've read about it before. Does anyone know of another book about this case?

I never even knew there was one!!! Adding to the shelves RIGHT NOW! They have been oft-mentioned in the TC Anniversaries thread, so that could be why this is ringing a bell with you.

This book just came out in October and I was lucky enough to find it in the new section of the library.

Fishface | 18925 comments Dick Turpin and Belle Starr now have their own shelves.

message 113: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18925 comments The Turpin family has a shelf now, too, since I just discovered that Louise Turpin's sister wrote a memoir.

message 116: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18925 comments I just discovered John Stonehouse, an official in the British government who faked his own death to evade accountability for his misconduct. He now has his own shelf. The Official Misconduct shelf is prospering at the moment, for those interested in that sort of crime...

Ok, so this whole shelf thing confuses me. Does this group have its own shelves? And if so, how do I access them? I swear, I hate not understanding things lol

Don't feel bad; the site is huge and constantly being changed without warning. If you look towards the upper right on this page you will see a green link that says Bookshelf. Click on that and it takes you to our TC library. The sub-shelves are another long list of green links along the L side of that page. Feel free to add any books you want but the title you want may already be here. Type the title into the little search box at the top of the list of shelves and a list of choices will come up. Most of the ones already on our shelves will be blurred out so you know you don't have to add those again. Sometimes a book is already on our shelves but it shows up bright and clear anyway. That means there are multiple editions of that book and the edition you're looking at is not the one we have shelved. Confusing, I know lol

Yes a rather (in my opinion) useless one. But it evolves into a very dangerous one. I have some in my game, all named after me. :D

I have a list of books for the published in 2023 folder but ..... I just found out Goodreads has a cap on how many posts a person is allowed to make. Supposedly to prevent spam. UGH. It even applies to Mods. That means it will take me about a week to get them all on.

A lot of them haven't been released yet. I'll concentrate on posting in date order.

But that is GENIUS!

Fishface | 18925 comments Frank Lucas, a major drug trafficker, and Edmund Godfrey, who was murdered under very unclear circumstances years and years ago, now have their own shelves. So do the Berrigan brothers, whom you may remember from my raving about The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, as a Berrigan brother also turned up as part of the Harrisburg Seven in Friendly Fire and they turn out to have at least 4 books about them.

Fishface | 18925 comments Smiles are hard to come by when you're reading TC, but I got one just now when I was continuing to read Golden Boy: A Murder Among the Manhattan Elite over lunch and learned that one of the officers investigating the crime is named Geraldo Rivera. That poor guy, going through life with a name like that!
