I’m reading The Murder of Mr Wickham. And it is THAT Mr Wickham from Pride & Prejudice. It’s showing to be quite a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see who done it.

Just finished "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. It was wonderful. Just started "The Other Side of Night" by Adam Hamdy. It's really good so far.

Into The Wild was also really good.
Into The Wild was also really good.
I read Listen To Me by Tess Gerritsen It is book 13 in the series and can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading the series in order. As always, this book is a welcome addition to the series. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It's unusual to cheer for a bad guy who steals just because he's good at it, but I did find myself warming to Aussie author Garry Disher's Wyatt. Kickback is one of Disher's earliest books and the first in the Wyatt series.
4★ My review of Kickback with no spoilers
I just finished Portrait of a Thief
Another case of false advertising but overall, it worked. My 3.5 star review:

I just enjoyed the first of this entertaining, quirky historical mystery series. Lady Hardcastle is seeking A Quiet Life in the Country, but author T.E. Kinsey ensures her sleuthing talents don't go to waste. Just what I needed - a good cosy!
4★ My review of A Quiet Life in the Country (with quotes, but no spoilers)
Ruby Fever by Ilona Andrews is the fantastic finale to Catalina's trilogy. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4270954677
Finished reading Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer. The way the Hulu series was done (flashing back and forth between past and present) makes more sense now.
Also finished Victorian Ghost Stories (Ed.) Montague Summers. Currently working on And Then There Were None.

Bad Actors by Mick Herron. The preceding book had a cliffhanger so I was impatient for this one - another not to miss installment. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4228821522
Slough House
by Mick HerronSlough House/Slow Horses #7, series best read in order. Love the series, LeCarre for the 21st century but this is not Herron's best. Slow and a bit dull compared to the rest of the series, which is head and shoulders above most. 3 stars.

I'm checking this one out at the library after I finish The Agathas.
I just finished Roxanne
My four star review of this well done police procedural:

I thought it was a very good read, connecting two modern-day murders back to a specific point in time of LDS history/doctrine in the 19th century. What kills me is the whole polygamy thing (especially in our time) and the self-serving "revelations" on the part of men that somehow makes everything okay on that score, down to older men in fundamentalist sects taking 14 year-old girls as their wives. I see this male dominance thing in a number of religions and I have to say it makes me want to puke.

I really enjoyed the characters in The Secret World of Connie Starr, Aussie author Robbi Neal's new novel. It begins during the Depression and goes to 1952 in the small country town of Ballarat, Victoria. It's hard to keep secrets in a small town.
4★ My review of The Secret World of Connie Starr
Doctor Ice Pick sounds like some kind of snake-oil salesman from a couple of centuries ago, but this short non-ficton piece by Claire Prentice explains how recently he and his trainees were poking into brains of disturbed patients. ACK!
3★ My review of Doctor Ice Pick
4/5 starsA trip on their newly refurbished yacht brings newlyweds Jake and Virginie to an utopian Island. Maybe they should have stuck to their original plans.

3/5 starsOne of them can interact with the dead. The other one can dream about the past...and the future. What will happen when they investigate the strange goings on at Crimshaw Manor?

Finished The Lost Children. To be released late June. May not be for all readers as it contains sensitive material.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Ashes to Ashes by Mel Starr. This is a neat series of books about a medieval surgeon who stumbles into also being a bailiff or sheriff for a Lord and his land and subjects. Mystery abounds and the surgeon plays detective.. I've been reading the series out of order, but each book has been fine on its own. One can really get lost in these books thinking about how things were. I find it fascinating at how raw and basic the living was and for that reason it appeals to me. https://www.goodreads.com/series/6089...
I just finished listening to Motherless Brooklyn

The Howard Hughes Affair
by Stuart KaminskyToby Peters #4. Hughes hires Toby to make sure Hughes' plans for new planes don't fall into German hands. We see hints about Hughes' future and also hang out with Basil Rathbone. Fun mystery but not Kaminsky's best. 3 stars.
We did our Memorial Day holiday in advance between Monday and yesterday, and I managed to catch up on some reading.
Finished Victorian Ghost Stories by Montague Summers, The Inn of Tears, neither of which are mysteries but still books I very much enjoyed (especially Summers' book, which is an anthology of ghostly tales). Also finished Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer. The series is by no means the book but it gets the main story right.
Started reading Night Over Fitch's Pond (1933) and They by Kay Dick. Next up is probably No Surrender: My Thirty-Year War by Hiroo Onoda, who was left behind after WWII and continued to follow his mission because he hadn't heard the war was over.

Well, to be very honest, they added a detective and his partner, with the detective being LDS and being a bit shaken up by all of the things he's learning about the church's violent history and how often the fundamentalist Mormon men would use their "revelations" as a means of control and to justify stuff like blood atonement and polygamy. I could really care less about the detective, but how else they could have done it I don't know. On the whole, the series is actually pretty good.
