Nirkatze | 21010 comments LOL just what I can remember right now...

message 7: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments Nice list :) didn't read the wheel of time yet, but thinking about rereading Abhorsen serie, cause have latest books from it :)

message 8: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments I loved the Abhorsen series! I'm still hoping for more. I didn't like the later books quite as much as the original three, but still enjoyed them. Nix is soo good at creating worlds with a few brushes of the pen. I definitely recommend his short story collections too, if you haven't tried them out.

Monika | 2319 comments I'm in the middle of To hold the bridge short stories collection and loving it :)

message 10: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments Yes! That! I remember wondering how he could make such rich worlds and characters so quickly--but not have a whole book about them!

message 11: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments Just amazing imagination I think :)

message 12: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments I saw an interview once where he mentions he still writes out all of his books longhand--and has notebooks filled with his handwritten books!

message 13: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments I'm not surprised :) Reading 'Agatha Christie 's secret notebooks' at the moment and this is eye opening thing :) not full novels in them, but ideas for them, building up plots, all she didn't used in some, but used in others or resign altogether. Fascinating read.

Oh cool! One of my good friends is a big Agatha Christie fan, I'll have to tell her about that!

The writing process is so fascinating. So many cogs in the machine, so much work and inspiration required. I saw an author interview on Daniel Green's youtube channel where they talked about writer's block being less an issue of not having any ideas and more one of having too many, and not knowing which to choose. Do the Secret Notebooks say which plot ideas were originally assigned to which books? So cool to see the discarded paths!

message 15: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments Everything is there, including how she changing her ideas for characters names etc. I'm around 80% of this book at the moment. Supposed to have 2 unpublished stories in it, can't wait to see/read them. I have it through kindle unlimited ( since last year) and finally have a chance to read it.

message 16: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments Wow! So cool! Are you going to reread any of Christie's novels when you're done, to see the process in action?

message 17: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments I read Nemesis just around the time when start reading notebooks, but definitely I re-read few her novels I have on my bookshelf :)

message 18: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments Which of her books is your favorite? I haven't read any yet, but I've seen several movies and TV shows based on her works.

message 19: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments Hard to say... I like Miss Marple novels... The big 4 with Poirot is great read... Still have lots to find and read with her other characters... I read book by David Suchet about his 25 years of being/playing Poirot. Amazing actor and great read.

message 20: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments Indeed! I can't imagine another Poirot--other portrayals (like Branaugh) all pale in comparison. My friend has been trying to get me to read the Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Is that one of the "big 4"?

message 21: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2319 comments The big four is a novel title. Poirot versus 4 very interesting and dangerous criminals.

message 22: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 21010 comments Oooh, roger that!
