Way back when, when Covid first hit and everyone was on a baking frenzie, I made my famous onion buns and gave some to my friend, her daughter complained and I told her I would make some. She said she'd hold me to it.

Early in December, I mentioned to my friend (daughter was there) that I was of a mind to bake some Thimble Cookies. Daughter said, "Ooooh, I have a batch of those, and ONION BUNS.

Tomorrow daughter has invited me over for New Year's Day and I'll surprise her.

You'd think I never baked bread before - first I burned the milk instead of scalding it, then added double the amount of shortening. So scrapped that. The dough is proofing right now.
