Happy Halloween! It's rainy here and I am not looking forward to trick or treating under the rain!

It's really wet here too, I don't think there will be many kids out tonight. It's feeling a bit chilly too. Contemplating putting my heating on. I need to learn how to use it lol. I have underfloor heating in my flat, not had that before. I need to learn how to use it before my parents flat/cat sit next week while I'm at the hypnosis convention. I've been signed off work this week so hopefully some more rest will do me the world of good and I'll be more energetic for that.

Poor you. It took me ages to recover from covid side effects but I got there in the end. You need to be extra kind to yourself and take it slowly.
Your birthday sounded like just my kind of day. Bath is beautiful.
Janice dropped hints for the 2023 yearly challenge in one of the help threads:Janice wrote: "Maybe you could fit it into the 2023 challenge. It's just around the corner."

any speculation? I'm thinking (view spoiler)
For those who like to vote, the Goodreads Choice Awards polls are up. :) https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...
Goodreads Choice Award means the year is definitely over!As usual I only read one of the nominees, so I am not voting... It is always good to find new titles, though.
Oh, that's too bad, Sandra. I've read quite a few this year and enjoyed most of them. I always look forward to seeing the winners in December.
Are we that far in the year already?! I'll check it out, but I don't think I've read many that who are nominated.
we are that far... says the white stuff falling outside.I read less of the nominees than usually. Lots of them are in my TBR but never made it to the top.
Esther wrote: "we are that far... says the white stuff falling outside."We had our first snow yesterday...
Thanks for the link Kristie, I hadn't noticed that. I've read maybe 4 out of them all. Two I was really impressed with so I voted for them but I always feel guilty voting when I haven't read all the books in the category. I added plenty to my wish list though!
Snow in Canberra in November? Next week there’ll be a heatwave. We'll know climate change is real, when it snows in Brisbane.😳😂
Snow is not good!I've been rather preoccupied the last week. First, I attended a quilt retreat on the weekend. Then, I was busy arranging to adopt a cat. I picked her up today. She's 1-1/2 years old and beautiful with very distinctive markings. I've called her Grace. I will post pictures probably tomorrow. My energy level just petered out.
Welcome, Grace! It is awesome you decided to adopt a new cat, Janice. How is she liking her new home?
She's sleeping right now. She tuckered herself out exploring the house. I don't think there are going to be any issues with her settling in.
Congrats, Janice, it's good that you 'adopt, don't shop'. Welcome, little Grace, she'll have a fine home with you and you'll get plenty of love from her. I'm sure of that! We've adopted a cat also, last year, after saying our goodbyes to Spike.
Shirley wrote: "Snow in Canberra in November? Next week there’ll be a heatwave. We'll know climate change is real, when it snows in Brisbane.😳😂"If we're not under water. But a heatwave is a real possibility too, as is more snow. It's all very strange
Sandra wrote: "It snowed in Australia????? What????"I mean, we do have ski fields 2 hours down the road from me. But this is like it snowing in the middle of May for you guys.
Congratulations Janice that is wonderful news! There will be lots of hugs and cuddles in your place over the coming weeks. @Rusalka
Climate change is very real. I was teaching this to the kids in my class today. They were super curious about tidal energy and recycling. They asked me what happens if the water rises. They are only 7 years old but they were really engaging with saving our blue planet.
Last weekend I ran the convention (along with the other 2 directors) that should have been ran in 2020, then 2021. It went really well. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I gave a presentation, my first one ever, and it went as well as it could considering I hadn't prepped for it because of covid. So tired after that though and have been recovering this week. Still got brain fog and fatigue from the covid toobut it's gradually going.Talking of snow, I've just booked 7 days snowboarding in Andorra with my board game friends in January. I can't wait. I am going to a snow dome here in the UK next month for a bit of practise, don't want to be a total noob lol.
I have been contemplating registering with the Open University here to study a Psychology degree part time. I've wanted to do it for ages and feel like now might be a good time. Although, it won't be easy I'm sure. I need to decide in the next few weeks really, the course starts in February. Decisions, decisions!
Great plans Sarah! I recall you talking about the convention before Covid hit. I'm glad that it finally happened and that you did very well.
Oh wow, Snowboarding. How brave you are, Sarah. I’ll think of you when I’m lounging by the pool in the heat of Australian summer.
Sarah, good to hear you are feeling better but for a couple of persisting symptoms. Andorra sounds awesome, although I'd never that's to snowboard. I agree with Shirley, you are brave.Let us know when you decided about the Psychology degree. It is fantastic that you are considering it.
Sarah, I hadn’t known that Andorra is a country in its own right - a principality. (I googled) What a fascinating place. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures there.
So glad the con went well, Sarah. Go you!! I'm glad you're feeling better, even with a bit of brain fog.Good luck with the Psych degree decision. If it feels like a good time, I reckon run with it. You'll smash it, it's just whether it fits with you time wise and economically, so if that sounds good you will be fine!
Andorra sounds amazing, and I wish you better luck than me at snowboarding. I was okay on the board, just sucked on the lifts.
So glad to see that things are looking up for you, Sarah. The brain fog and fatigue seem to take forever to get over, but everything seems to be going well despite that. That will be such a fun trip. Let us know all about it when you get back. :)
I agree with, Rus. If you have the time for the classes now, do it. It might be a lot for a while, but you'll do great and you won't regret it.
Le sigh. Our household has finally joined the ranks of the covid brigade. 2 years of almost a hermit existence, and nearly another year out in the world, and we have gotten got.
Yeah I know and thanks Saar The Book Owl and I agree with you Saar The Book Owl and I can’t believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow
Sorry to hear that, Rusalka. I hope you have a light case.I haven't had Covid and I'm hoping it holds off permanently.
Too bad, Rusalka! I hope it is mild for both of you. Hopefully with vaccination and less dangerous strains it will be over soon. Keep us posted.
Sorry to hear you and Lexx have covid Rusalka. You've been so careful too. Like me. I guess it was bound to happen at some point. I hope you get off lightly. Do you have people nearby who can help out if you need anything? Thanks guys for the encouragement re the degree. I'll let you know what I decide.
I have no idea how I'll be with snowboarding. Always wanted to do it. A little scared about the lifts. I'm sure it will be fun even if I do end up screaming all the way down lol. I learnt about Andorra in school and then forgot totally all about it until i was asked on this holiday.
Hope you're resting up with the dreaded COVID. Let's hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that the oldies in this household have dodged it. Harrison had a slight case earlier on. We're heading up to Fitzroy Island near Cairns for a few days in early December, so fingers crossed.
Happy Thanksgiving, Christine! And to all our US members. I hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We are visiting family in Uruguay, so not really celebrating, but still very thankful. :)
