So glad you're home, Janice. Here's to a quick recovery!
I am just back from my 11 days trip to Nepal. Technically very near to home, but still my first international trip since Feb 2020. So glad it happened!
Nice to see you peak in Esther! How's the knitting going? That's great Pragya! I'm going on my first plane trip since summer of 2019 tomorrow.
Nice, Pragya! I can't wait for a vacation. I've done some traveling, but it's all been for family stuff. Looking forward to just relaxing on a beach somewhere and visiting the sights somewhere new.
Pragya wrote: "I am just back from my 11 days trip to Nepal. Technically very near to home, but still my first international trip since Feb 2020. So glad it happened!"Yay Pragya, Naples is a place I've always wanted to visit!
@Sandra It did!@Peggy. Where are you off to?
@ Kristie. Yes please, hopefully soon.
@Margo. Not sure if that was your autocorrect. I visited Nepal, not Naples. Think Himalayas and Mount Everest :)

@ Pragya, I am a bit jealous. :)

Autocorrect or typo - mind you, I'd like to visit Naples too!

Esther, I hope you get to make some travel plans soon. :)
We're having some summerish weather and I figured I deserved a new dress. It's been ages since I bought one. Definitely didn't get any new ones last summer, and maybe nog even the summer before that. There's this Dutch sustainable brand that has vintage style amazing dresses and skirts, but I hadn't ordered there in years. They're also a bit expensive. Anyway, I checked their website in the weekend (why?) and found 18 dresses I liked. I narrowed it down to 8 and ordered those, thinking there would probably be 1 or 2 that would actually be nice when trying it on. But no, there are 5. And they're not just 'okay' or 'this will do' but I absolutely adore them. Well, 4 of them, but the 5th I really like too. The only things is they're between €80-110 a piece. On the other hand, I adore them. And they're good quality and I can wear them for years and years to come. And some of them are for 23C weather, while others are more for 33C weather.I'm telling myself I shouldn't buy 5 but maybe I'll just by 5. I don't buy clothes often but when I do, I go all out, lol.

They spend a few days in in Montreal then hit Quebec. I find great things at 60% off. Most of my clothes are from there. My wardrobe really looks like I spend a lot of $$$ on it,
That's great! I should probably check out their sale at the end of summer, but that doesn't help me now ;-) Maybe I should shop for some winter outfits ;-)
I'm with Dawn, Peggy. Buy them. My wardrobe is small since I do not really enjoy buying clothes that much, so when I find something I like, it's comfortable, and reasonable quality, I buy a few. And everything lasts me for ever. I love Mustang sneakers, for example, so I buy those. I can find similar ones cheaper, but usually are worse quality and I can see the difference.
Thanks everyone. I had my first day of training at the new job yesterday. The team of other social prescribers are lovely. It wasn't too much to take on thankfully, although I'm sure they are easing me in gently. It feels very familiar, not massively different to what I currently do issue and outcome wise but the process differs. I think I'm really going to enjoy it. I have 3 more days of training next week including shadowing someone and then I start properly the week after.I have had a stressful week or two of flat hunting. There are just no properties about, they are really expensive and then you have to apply if you like it and the landlord gets to choose the lucky tenant. So much competition. Anyway, after losing out on a flat and the others being too small or awful, I found a lovely one in a rural town not far from my new job, half way (but South) between Bath and Bristol. I was accepted on it yesterday. So just have to do all the credit and referencing checks now. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and if so, I get the keys 1st June. All very exciting. A lot of change happening in these next few weeks.
I'm off to Madrid on Thursday for my first solo trip. It's supposed to be 32C while I'm there. I'm really looking forward to it now. I have a couple of tours planned and I'm going to an immersive art experience and then the rest of the time I'm planning on enjoying some parks in the sun.
I'm happy for you, Sarah, that your first day went well. It will be a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but then it will settle down. I'm glad you enjoy it so far. As for the house hunting, it's not easy, isn't it? It looks like a lotery ticker, but I hope you'll get the flat.Enjoy your Madrid - trip to reload your batteries ;)
I'm glad the job suits you well and that you found a place to live. I agree it's very stressful. It's great that it took you only 2 weeks!Enjoy Madrid! I'm always in awe of people who go on trips by themselves.
Wonderful news, Sarah! I'm glad you're enjoying your new job and have nice co-workers. That's so important. I hope all goes well with the flat and you have a fun and relaxing time in Madrid.
Some good times coming up for you Sarah. I’m sure you’ll have fun setting up your new place. Any plans for new furniture?

It was reported last week that there were 330 something properties available for rent in the entire republic of ireland - yikes!!!
I'm feeling a bit stressed out at the moment although things are starting to come together now. My mum had a bad infection, thankfully she is recovering now. I got an infection in my jaw as a result of dental work - completely better now. In the midst of all this illness my best friend got a call to say that the hospital was ready to perform her procedure. She has donated a kidney to her 24 year old son! Both are now doing well bet it's fingers crosssed regarding rejection. They've been waiting a long time for this to happen - covid slowed everything down - but hopefully this will be the start of his new life and she can return to hers.
I know that there isn't really a choice in these situations, we would all do it, but still I think she's a bit of a hero
Definitely a hero! I'm glad things are getting better, hopefully you'll feel less stressed soon too.
yes, it's improved a lot and tomorrow night I'm going to a sound bath so I reckon I'll be completely de-stressed and sleep like a baby ;-)
Enjoy your sound bath. My friend went to one on Sunday and one of the participants fell asleep during the bath and snored up a storm. The instructor prodded her about 6 different times. I've been to a sound bath and the same woman was "singing along with the bowls" then too. LOL!
I did a yoga nidra session once and and someone started snoring. Snoring happens to be one of the most annoying sounds in the world to me, it immediately makes me grumpy and agitated. So instead of it being relaxing it turned into a stressful experience, lol!
I keep falling asleep when I'm reading, especially when it's warm. This does not help to keep on schedule with my challenges! Any tips? It's not the book..
I'm the same way, Peggy. Snoring just grates on my nerves and agitates me. Sorry, I'm of no help with the sleep issue. I've had a similar problem recently.
I had an unwanted visitor very early this morning. At about 1:15, my motion detector went off. Usually it's a cat or dog that sets it off in the wee hours, but I heard some noises at the door, so I checked the video. There was a well dressed man obviously very drunk trying a code to open the door. I figured right away that he was at the wrong house. These houses on this side of the street are identical, and it happens that people sometimes come to the wrong house. He suddenly noticed the doorbell so rang it. I turned on the audio and told him to go away because he was at the wrong house. He begged "Hailey" to let him in. I told him again that he was at the wrong house and if he didn't leave, I'd call the cops. "No! Don't. I'm not at the wrong house. Let me in Hailey, my hand hurts." I was pulling up my neighbor's number in my contacts and decided to check the video again before waking him. The man was gone. I went down the stairs and turned off the outside light (didn't realize it was on), then went to the window and looked out. He had gone to the next driveway and was sitting on the curb. Next time I looked out he was gone. This morning, I told my neighbor about the incident. They ID'ed him from the video as a neighbor who lives a couple of houses down. I was told to phone if it ever happened again.
It unnerved me and I had a hard time getting back to sleep. Read a book for a while. But I'm rather tired today, even with sleeping in and a nap this afternoon.
yikes. Good thing your door was locked. if not, you might have had a drunk guy looking for Hailey all over you place.
Oh yuck Janice. Glad you're okay. Would have rattled me too.At least he moved on. A good friend of ours did this in uni, but for his parents place. Couldn't get in, so slept under a bush in the front yard. Woke up the next day and realised he'd be trying to get in to the house next door. Was an army cadet at the time, so I wouldn't have wanted to be the people inside. He's a gentle giant and was incredibly embarrassed.
A couple of year later, our housemates got married and moved into a townhouse complex, where all the units looked identical. He walked straight into their new place one afternoon, and realised there were 3 small children watching tv with their parents. I believe the words were "Ah shit. Sorry." as he turned and walked out of the complete wrong house.

Occasionally, I forget to lock the door. Thankfully, this night they were locked tight. My dad's comment last night was about men chasing me, and I replied that I didn't want drunk men chasing me. Ugh!

I guess it's more common than not. Yikes.
I personally think my friend is particularly bad at this. He was also mowing his parent's neighbour's lawn every time he was on leave for a long time too...

That I could live with. Any chance he wants to move to Quebec?
That must have been scary, Janice. I'm glad your door was locked too. I might have called the police. Not a fan of having a drunk guy at my door in the middle of the night when I'm home alone. You just never know with people.
Drum roll please... 🥳My little book about the literary history of the Darling Downs has been published. Yay!
