Whatcha Doin' - 2022
Hope the new hospital is doing wonders, Janice, and that you are improving every day!! Let us know how you're doing when you are able and have time.
I was looking at my book shelf today, and noticed it was this time in previous years that the Amazon World Book Day freebies come out. And they are out for 2022 if you would like some free books:https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&...
And then I checked Story Bundle who do a similar thing each year for World Sci and Fantasy, and their collection is out and only available for another 17 hours. And that is here:

Thanks, Rus! For anyone that loves audiobooks, the free World Book Day books from Amazon have the option of adding the audios for $1.99 each. I think that's a great option.

Just caught up on this thread.@ Janice - I'm thinking about you and sending a virtual hug.
@ Rusalka - Thanks for the link. I too got all the books.
@ mods - We are behind you guys and appreciate all you do. No worries -you all are fabulous.
Our mods are always terrific. Thank you for all your effort. And do not hesitate to ask for some help. I'm sure many of us would be glad to collaborate with easy tasks. (Easy because we are not that great)

Hello there, long time no see! You have all been in my thoughts though, especially you Janice!I've had a lot going on, as always seems to be the case of late. I have not been enjoying living on the boat over winter. I feel like I only just made it through alive and sane and I do not want to do another one. So am actioning 'project get off the canal'. I need some stability in where I live, as well as financially. So I've decided to get an employed job, scale back my business massively, the new job will determine how much. As soon as I get my first month's wages, I'm going to rent a flat which will give me the chance to finish doing my boat up and sell it. Then once I have the money which was tied up in the boat, I'll start looking to buy my own place. It's such a massive transition for me. I've lived on a boat for 7 years and been self employed for 14, but it's the right decision for me at this point in time. There are actually a lot of jobs that are related to mental health at the moment which I am more than qualified to do so I'm hopeful I'll find something. In fact, I have already been invited for an interview on Monday so fingers crossed.
It's good to hear from you Sarah! Those are massive changes and were probably hard to make, but they sound like good changes! Good luck with the interview!
Update! I have a tentative discharge date of April 29. I’m counting down the days. I drove a simulator car this morning. That was an experience l! No accidents and no driving off the road. I was pretty timid because it doesn’t respond like your own vehicle would. I’m doing okay. I’m not online much because using the app is extremely challenging. I don’t want to hook up my laptop because it’s an unsecured network. 9 more days and counting. It’s extremely boring here. I’ve been reading, just not tracking.
Hi Sarah - good to hear from you. I remember when you moved into your boat and how excited we all were to hear about your adventures on the canal system. I am sorry to hear that your last winter was such a downer. Good luck with your job search and moving into a flat.
Sarah, great to hear from you. Lot is happening but it sounds like you have a plan!Janice. glad to hear you are getting better.
Janice - so good to hear from you, and that you are doing ok. Just think how great it’ll be when you go home, and we can continue harassing you with requests😂.Sarah, what a fantastic life-changing decision you’ve made. Best wishes for Project GOTC.
Thanks, everyone. And Shirley, LOVE Project GOTC I will be using that, I might put a TF in there after the G for good measure lolJanice, that is such great news. 9 days will hopefully fly by. I can't begin to imagine how boring it is in a hospital for long periods. I think I've done 2 or 3 nights in the past and that was enough. I love the idea of the driving simulators, I didn't realise they were used in this kind of context but it makes a lot of sense. Good to know you're safe!
Sarah, best of luck with life changes, hope all goes well for you ;-)Janice, great to hear you have a discharge plan. Make the most of the rehab and rest while you're there. I know hospital is very boring :-(
@Sarah: these are such positive changes! Good luck on your interview. I'm sure you will kick some b*tt.@Janice: that's very good news. Only 9 days left to go.
Good for you, Sarah! Sounds like you have a good plan going with Project GTFOTC! Sometimes we all need to shake things up, make some major/minor changes in our lives to move ahead. It's a new adventure. Good luck with your interview on Monday. Fingers and toes crossed. It's good to hear from you Janice. Sorry you're bored but you're in a good place and you'll be home soon. Those simulators are hard. But each time you "go for a drive" it'll get easier. We're all missing you.
Massive changes afoot, Sarah! But sounds like they are the best for you. I know you will miss aspects of the boat, but fantastic for you that you are working out and choosing what is best for you. More of us should do that!Same with the job. But I completely and utterly understand moving out of the self employed space after the past 2 years. And I have no doubt your skills are super in demand at the moment too. Great to hear about the interview and fingers and toes crossed for you :D
Awesome to hear you have a release date, Janice! And so so good to hear you are healing well.I've just had a great image of you in those 90s arcade driving games which were plastic replicas of cages of tiny cars you sat in, usually neon colours, mainly hot pink.

That image made my day,,,
(back to knitting...)
Look, I am no expert. But I reckon if you got a whole heap of paper tickets that you could exchange for weird stuffed toys or a potato gun or maybe 200 000 tickets for a playstation, rehab would become so much more fun.
You wouldn't be able to keep me away from the stupid hot pink car playing Daytona or Death 4000GX
