So good! Great cast! So many details that matter within the plot/events! I'm impressed, amused by the funnies and enjoyed it.

SO FUNNY! SO MANY DETAILS THAT MATTER
it makes the writer side of me happy
the one where ya know, things are there for a reason, not just cause

That's kind of how I do it... I go movie hunting, and just watch a ton of stuff for like a week or 2, then don't for a year or 2...
I watched a ton of movies in September when I wasn't feeling good, sleeping alot, and going to the doctor alot...

I watched the Big 4. It was stupid funny & well done action choreo.

Poster is a good advert for movie. XD
I was a bit thrown by the language. Which sounds like a mix of Spanish, something & Mandarin. I believe it's an Indonesian film. The main good guy & the main bad guy are big stars. I've seen them in other movies.
Now watching the Recruit. The oddest CIA guy ever. XD Hahahahah
I love clever + action. So far it's pretty good.

This makes me very happy I don't own a phone!
I also loved Bullet Train. It's even more fun when you are familiar with Japanese language and culture.
TY for other movie recs too... has anyone watched any of the Oscar Movies? Sometimes I like to do a run of the Best Picture ones, just for fun, like reading the GR Choice awards... only one up my alley really is Everything Everywhere, which has been on my TBW for a while now...

I haven't even tried to see what's won awards & stuff. My answer is no. Interest tends to be leap frogged by friend's interest in them or cause I saw preview at movie theater. I haven't gone to movies in 3.5 years now. XD
Dude, I love my phone. To do almost everything like a PC, pro camera & handheld game. XD

Back to the Recruit. There were some parts that just made me go WTH, but overall, fun action series. I really liked the social interplay between friends/lovers/coworkers/etc. It was interesting to note that acting overall was done well, aspects of age & viewpoint were presented, trauma was not ignored or glossed over, and showed all sides of white to black + hazy greys.
Though, it's cool that there are interesting ways of making short & long series. I feel like epic long series are only truly loved by Asian areas. Cause they make 24-50+ and people love them.

Hey... that always sucks... Shaitarn was just asking when we were reading Memories of Ice... I commented that you might be half done already, and not have told us XD

Has Nicodemus shown up?... I heard he was going to... solidly connects Joe Ledger series to Kagen series (I think Kagen is thousands of years in the future on Earth, technically)...

I need to read that too.. I liked Kagen enough to continue, but I'll probably put that off until the end of the year...

Only reason it's not on my near TBR, is because it's pretty dark and depressing, and it tends to color my reading for weeks after...

Your immune systems will grow stronger together. lol
I haven't started Kagen yet. I listened to the start & it didn't hook my attention right away. Will try again later. Need to read several 1st of series books this month so I can use up my credits.

Soo, I haven't seen anything in the movies in years and barely watch TV, unless for sports... Books have overtaken my every free moment... I feel like I am missing on stuff, but can't make myself watch anything most of the time... I have all those Netflix, Prime, BritBox, HBO Max and Disney subscriptions, and I haven't used them in at least a year... I haven't cancelled them, because I always think, what if I feel like watching something at one point, maybe after football and basketball season?...
Pretty much at t he same spot as last time, 10-15%: time to get my theories in early… (view spoiler)
Sounds good... I'll probably finish today, but be around to comment on your read-through...
Michael Connelly books are super easy to read, I feel... there's been some bumps along the way, as Connelly had Bosch retire, unretire, retire, etc... but I think the addition of Ballard created a really good dynamic for future books...
Around 40% now, and (view spoiler)

Doing my part to be an instigator :D
It's crazy to me, how different I feel about Boschverse (since I've read all the loosely connected books/series... Jack McEvoy, Lincoln Lawyer, that one about the thief in Vegas) after 35+ books, versus Jack Reacher...
They're both of a similar age, I think... Bosch is 70+ now, and has done an outstanding job of still having some believable action scenes and tons of mystery solving (I think that's the main difference... Bosch isn't a character built on over-the-top action scenes, and light detective work... the opposite really... light action, and lots of case solving)...

Brian wrote: "Yeah I enjoyed most the Bosch books overall. Good police procedural novels with great secondary villains (co-workers, lawyers, etc)."
I think the show did a great job showcasing the strongest elements of the books, while making some notable changes... like Bosch's relationship with Irvin Irving...
If I have one problem with the Boschverse books, it's the insistence that the Bosch show & Lincoln Lawyer movie exist in-world... the new Lincoln Lawyer show on Netflix, too, probably... we'll find out when Resurrection Walk releases, later this year... first new Lincoln Lawyer book in like 5 years... last bunch have been Ballard & Bosch, and the McEvoy book, I think...
EDIT: OH YEA... the Covid book, where Mickey spent half the book in jail, because he's been framed for murder, and decides to represent himself... The Law of Innocence

So I'm just not starting to explore my local library system and it is... lacking in the SFF collection. Do you all join multiple libraries for a broader selection? If so, which ones?

I definitely would if I could get multiple library cards... only one system up here though. Fortunately, my local Hoopla isn't bad in SF/F--it's just mostly older stuff... I also have Libby & Sora (School library)

I dunno what the selection is like, honestly... from what I understand, you can see everything Hoopla has... if your library isn't paying for access, there's just a button that you can press to ask your library to add it to the their catalog... so if you're not seeing much, there might not BE much...
I've read SOME SF/F from Hoopla, but I use alot of my credits for mysteries in the Mystery Book Club thread... they seem to have alot of those...

What's the difference between Libby and Sora?

If you can get a library card, you can add any library that uses the app to the app. I had like 2 libraries on Overdrive/Libby. Tried out 3 on Hoopla.

Sora is exclusively school libraries--and I think that's public school/elem through high school. I have an account because I work at a school--but I think you have to have a school library account to get access. I have also had very little luck finding anything on it... it has Rick Riordan books, but none of the other YA I've looked for has been on it...

Tough about Harry tho! Overall thanks for setting this one up

If you find any, let me know too!
I've seen some that require a monthly/annual fee to join (but you don't have to be a resident) but no freebies yet...

Is that different than graphic audio?

Unlike regular stereo where sound is panned left and right, enhanced stereo uses psychoacoustic techniques like delay, level differences, and spectral effects to create the illusion of sound coming from everywhere. 3D sound will dramatically elevate your level of immersion and deepen your emotional connection to the story.
