Well, I started Hot Zone and I'm going to have to pause it at some point cause this is not what I want to envision as I eat. XD

I downloaded Hoopla and managed to get a temp card for a county I don't live in. Woo!

I just downloaded Hoopla, did the sign up process, let it search location (while using app) and then picked a library from the available list. That dropped me into the library website to sign up for a card. I put in my info and it gave me a temp card. I don't think I can have a regular card because I don't live in that county. So, freebie for 30 days.

My local library has a great network system. I haven't looked into it, but I will take a look later. That will broaden my loan range.

There are more races as the story continues. Glad you're enjoying it. In some ways, doesn't Hyun make you think of Scrooge McDuck? A likable, gold digger. =D

Hot Zone: You know, for an abridged version, they did a good job. It's informative with just enough description to understand who, what, where and when.

I'm on page 32 so far of the hot zone and it's just disaster after disaster. What happens to the doctor treating the Frenchman from chapter 1 is so sad, especially since we now know how dangerous this virus is.

Its definitely not something you can read while eating though like Soo said lol.

I've been to a few underground caverns and they're amazing! Though, there were no bats in them at the time I visited those places. However, their poop was everywhere. =P

Hot Zone: LOL

Just realized I was thinking of the book as Hot Spot, not Zone. Had to go back up and edit earlier post.

The abridged version was short. Covered the discovery of the monkeys, spread via research, trials on other monkeys/research and how some people caught Ebola but did not die from it. I'm going to guess the book goes into more detail about that aspect? I'd appreciate it if someone would let me know. That part was the tail end of the audio.

Did the audiobook not discuss the Frenchman whom was one of the first people to get the virus and how he basically infected who knows how many people including his doctor? That and do they talk at all about the African tribes from the 1960s that were most likely the first people to catch Ebola?

No, it did. It was a great and horrible intro. Which is why I didn't think it would be a great listen while eating. Most of the gross imagery stuff was in the first half.

Ok, so I got the ebook. Skimmed chapter 1. I like the abridged version better. Hahahhahaha

The abridged version was a nice summary of events without extra info. Well phrased and narrated.

The ebook has more details and the writing is clunky. I have it now. I'll spend some time skimming it.

Some of the thrillers we've read here in Vagabond have Ebola as a threat.

Yeah! Also, he's figuring out how Royal Road is different from the other MMORPG he played. That leads to fun directions on how he develops his game character.

Just finished Illusion of Thieves and went back to read all the spoilery comments lol
That does have me wanting more, and it definitely set up nicely for the next book! The suspense of will they/won't they pull it off wasn't quite tense enough, so I hope next book can get me more on the edge of my seat :)

Mulan meets the Song of Achilles. Love Mulan. I thought the Song of Achilles was modernized, dull rehash of great lore.

I have my fingers crossed & hoping the romance is well written into a lot of action/politics. =D

Had a bit of a PC scare... got home and PC turned off on me... then I saw microwave clock reset... must have been a power outage/brownout...

But then PC restarted like 3x before turning on all the way... PC used the restart to install some updates on me... and now a ton of other stuff is installing updates... kinda frustrating... kept stealing focus while I was trying to type this...

All sorted now...

EDIT: with my idle games always running, reloading tells me exactly when it shutoff... 3hrs and 12 minutes ago... right at 10am, basically... weird...

Long-term, it's mostly idle games where the numbers get big, and they can run while I'm asleep/work... they mostly need interaction a few times a fay... Trimps, NGU Idle, Synergism... there's a ton of them, big and small... short-term, I play more active idle/clicker games like Realm Grinder or the million Prestige Tree mods...

Also play some steam games like Siralim and Terraria, and when the mood strikes I play Path of Exile, or start farming old collectibles in WoW... I don't really do group/endgame content when I play WoW... just soloable stuff and stuff I can do with randos farming a rare drop or miniboss without needing to read a fight guide...
