What did you buy?

But agree with Narilka here, what books did you get?? :D

But agree with Narilka here, what books..."
Oh they had a good sale. I am with you, sometimes the Barnes and Noble prices can be ridiculous. I bought:
The Reckoning
Jekyll & Hyde Inc.
End of Days
The Killing Moon
Temple
An Illusion of Thieves
The Chain
Cell
Furies of CalderonSteel Fear
The List of Seven
Also, in the last audible sale I bought like 30 books, to include all of the Malazan series. I am determined to finally start it and finish it next year.
I have a problem!!! lol. With Soo, Chocko, and Iain my pile just keeps growing forever.

I agree!!! It's a pretty great problem to have!

You got me to add a couple more to my TBR! I could use a speed bubble right about now...

Self imposed ban on book stores does not compute hahaha
I'm a book collector too ;)

Oooo nice list. I'll keep an eye out for your review of An Illusion of Thieves. I've been curious about it but not enough to buy it yet.

Midnight Texas #2... about 10 characters in, and I feel for our young psychic. However, I don't understand the residents of Midnight when it comes to Olivia. They are all willing to believe that she might be (view spoiler)

Right?... it was great... I devoured all 3 in under 24hrs...
I started watching the Aurora Teagarden books on youtube... they were turned into a 17 movie Hallmark series over the last couple years... taking me a few days to finish the first one, since I haven't been giving myself much time for TV...

Did you like them?
Yea... interesting world/magic system... much more easily digestible than Transformation / Revelation (same author, different pseudonym)

It was a BR with Soo & Julian in this thread, back in February, I think...
If we're scheduling series BRs for 2023 already (October Daye was mentioned in another thread), my votes are for Heartstrikers & Laundry Files...
I've been trying to find time to get you guys to try Laundry Files for months, and suddenly have a desire for a Heartstrikers re-read, as well...
They're kinda 2 ends of the spectrum... Heartstrikers is a pretty fun and fluffy read, for the most part... the one nice dragon in a family of manipulators...
Laundry Files, on the other hand, starts off like The Office for wizards, or something to that extent, and slowly morphs into an awesome Cthulhu-themed nightmare, as CODE NIGHTMARE RAINBOW events start happening with more and more frequency... some themes are reminiscent of Peter Clines' Threshold series (for why these things are happening)...
Nice Dragons Finish Last
The Atrocity Archives

Pretty much all the Laundry Files books are on Hoopla, with few exceptions, if you guys have library cards with access to that (I know it varies, and is mostly a USA thing)...
...and don't want to spend money...

Just a word of warning, the Atrocity Archives is the dryest entry of the series... I'd say at least give book 2 a shot, if book 1 isn't the greatest for you... I really liked the twist of plot in book 2 alot... The Jennifer Morgue

Once again, I enjoyed it quite well and am looking to start with the last one tomorrow:)))

They're separate, I haven't read Stross's more fantasy fare... I've considered it, but the low reviews have pushed me away... not sure even Soo is a fan...
I love Laundry Files so much, I keep reconsidering, then still don't...
The Heartstrikers thread sounds like a plan... I'll mention it in the BR Invite thread in November/December... let 2023 get closer and the hype start building... things always heat up, close to New Years'...

You guys just need to tell me when... I'm sure we can bust those out in the next few months... we're close to the end of the current St. Mary's books, and there's 3 Time Police books, I think...
I have 10.5, 10.6, and 11 loaded on my ipod... so that's where I'm at, at least... if I'm behind, I can work on catching up when I finish my current book soon, and Scholomance 3...

Yea... September and early October was a glut of Buddy reads.... mostly stuff we scheduled back at the start of the year...

I finished The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and have opened all your spoilers. You did a great job of guessing things. I also agree, it could've used a couple more chapters at the end. (view spoiler)

Seeing you reading the book definitely brought back memories... I loved how different people handled the time loop differently, like the merc that fought in wars...
And how drastically the MC was able to change his own life, when the need arose...

Went "Full Nirkatze" today, after Jodi Taylor used firkle in like the 3rd book/story in a row... it's a word that makes sense in context, but I was curious if it was a real word...
The word is on urban dictionary, and was submitted to the Collins dictionary in 2014, but is still pending... the general definition is to root around or rummage/search...
But, I also found it in an article in the Irish Times from 2000, collecting words of contempt, and had an incident where someone called their neighbor a "dirty firkle", lol... from the German ferkle, which apparently means pig...

I could see how being a kalachakra would be frustrating with a need to keep boredom at bay. I guess it's good they can reset themselves once in a while that way.

Dang it Choko!!! You've now forced me to download Midnight Texas #1. LOL
It’s a solid trilogy/series… great cozy characters…
I think most of Harris’ time since finishing the trilogy has been spent writing the Gunnie Rose series… it’s an alt-history weird western with magic and a splintered America… either the civil war or WWI went differently, and then the Russian stuff around 1900 went differently, and America was split in 3 with a Russian rebel group ruling California… been reading it for a few years now… book 3.5/4 is due out soon… it’s been labeled Gunnie Rose #4, but is from the POV of her younger sister so I dunno what to call it…

@Choko, I'll be doing Space Team 4 after finishing this one. So 3-4 weeks out at best guess.
