Vagabond Treehouse (2023) [Beware of Chicken 3 - December 4th]

I got to read the short of how Dr. B got the whole team together, How everything started, and it really gave a good look at how far they had to go to get where they are now... I enjoyed it a lot!
St. Mary's #9: Argumentation etc: this entry is notable for feeling like a continuous story for the first chunk... Halcom returning is a thorn in their side, everything builds to Ronan... then that plays out, and Max lost in the past returns to the anthology feel, I think.... that's where I'm at on my re-read...

Hey y'all--some of Jodi Taylor's audiobooks are on sale at Chirp for a while. Time Police books and the early St. Mary's.

You think that's news!
I just discovered this existed, yesterday: A Bachelor Establishment
(Jodi Taylor writes a Regency romance as Bitchface Barclay)...

$6 ebook, $2 whispersync audiobook afterwards... not bad... still cheaper than 1 platinum annual credit...

Been quiet around here, with so many other BRs going on...
I seem to be slowly heading into more solo re-reads... been a bit free since I finished re-reading everything by Shelly Laurenston / GA Aiken... I did the Dragon Kin series and the Pride series and the Honey Badger Chronicles and the Call of Crows series over the past couple months (I'd forgotten that the Call of Crows trilogy ended on a cliffhanger for a 2nd trilogy when Laurenston finds time)...
I recently started re-reading Mercy Thompson & Alpha and Omega (did the first 2 in both series and a short story already)... now I find myself wanting to re-read Kate Daniels, with the next Innkeeper Chronicles still a ways off from audio release and Hidden Legacy possibly done...
Before too long, I'll renege on my denials of an October Daye re-read, at this rate :D
Gonna do the The Battersea Barricades, The Steam Pump Jump, and Hope for the Best soon... when I'm not doing everything else ;)

I got to those short stories last week (or was it the week before?)
I liked getting a bit of the political history before St. Mary's with Battersea.. Our cooks and seamstresses are rather badass! ;)
Steam Pump (view spoiler)
And Now For Something Completely Different was a fun one (view spoiler)
I'm already on Kate Daniels #4... the first couple are pretty short, and I really like #2-4... I've always had issues with #1 and the bad editing around the raid on Dr. Crest, when they think he's the baddie and Kate gets overblamed, but I found some author response online that explained the rationale, and it turns out the version I heard about a missing chapter was wrong, but there is some missing inner monologue that would have made it make a bit more sense...
Also, turns out the hunch comment referenced the upir theory, not Crest directly, and that makes sense...

I am on Something Completely Different. This is an interesting concept and could open a whole new can of worms, scientifically speaking, but as the author said, it is just a St. Mary's story and is created for the fun of it, not the science... I am just half way through, and laughing my ass off at how Max's name should never be spoken anywhere at the Time Police department:)))) I can understand them completely:))))

Started St. Mary's #10, Hope for the Best. Just about 10% in and I have no idea what Max's plan is, but I am interested to see her life among the Time Police... Her relationship with Mathew is sweet, funny and heartbreaking at the same time...

Still need to get to St. Mary's... got sidetracked this week with Kate Daniels 1-5, and the Dresden BR...
I'm clearly terrible about the timey-wimey elements and which book they go to, in the St. Mary's series, lol...
Re:bio-suits... I dunno if they're real, but they're a common sci-fi idea... they're used by the desert people in the original Dune, if I recall correctly (movie, if not books)...

I'd buy more on sale, but I'm kinda glutted with options and can't think, if the whole site is on sale...
And most of the personalized recommendations aren't useful, since it's series I've already read/listened to from other sources, so it's listing the rest of the entries I don't own through Audible...
Or it's listing ongoing series I can listen to for free on Audible Plus / Kindle Unlimited (and already AM doing that)...
I'm definitely seeing alot of nice blurbs for pre-orders, tho, like Grey Man and Orphan X... both entries sound great, can't wait... and one is cheap enough to buy for cash... barely...

As a result, I mostly just picked up the few things I'd wishlisted in the past, and new releases for just under credit price, saving me a bunch of credits...
Be the Serpent
Artful
Rolling in the Deep
A Mirror Mended
The Lost Metal
The Last Orphan
How to Pick Up Women with a Drunk Space Ninja
Priest of Crowns
Nona the Ninth

I never knew you could search discussions. Thanks!
It's in that cluster of options in the upper right corner of any group page / discussion page... in desktop mode, anyway... probably not there on mobile...

About the bio suits, I was wondering about the protection from radiation specifically... It just sounds really implausible to me...
I am 70% in Hope for the best and it is pretty cool! I am enjoying the whole book quite a bit. And as someone above said, Mathew has skills!!!

Started Be the Serpent -- every time I read one of these, these days, it's hard to believe there's still at least like 8-10 books left in the series... then again, this is another big book with an Author's Note that this has been planned from the beginning, and it's happening 8 books after the 8th book, where this happened before, with Eira Rosenwyr... so maybe it's not too crazy to imagine at least 24 books for the series... (view spoiler)

Yea... this book is proving that fans of this series are rabid and pretty good at coming up with theories...
Which is only strengthening my belief that (view spoiler)

Finished... and wow... that cliffhanger... Oberon is an idiot... and I'm not really surprised, from everything we've seen of him, so far...

I dug through my TBR and bought a couple more books:
Empire of Silence and the rest of the series, is my biggest commitment... hope it doesn't backfire...
The St. Mary's short stories I was missing, that aren't free on Audible Plus (so the ones between books 11-13)...
And the Spotless Series Boxed Set,,, 50hrs of audio for $4... it's a action romance series about a random person and an OCD hitman... they meet when the hitman comes calling for the female lead's mother/grandmother's stolen diamonds... no idea when I added it to my TBR...
There's some other stuff I'd have liked to get, but even discounted, they weren't worth buying for money vs credit...
I also picked up a ton of free stuff, like free St. Mary's short stories, the new Dispatcher #3 story from Scalzi (also picked up #2, since I can't remember if I read it or not)...

Sounds good... might be a bit, tho... we're mired in so many BRs, at the moment, and I'd like to go back and do the back half of the Marla Mason series... just need to read that Shark teeth short story I think, and I'd be ready for that soon...

I think it's time to start mixing in the time police books, if you have them... they're basically like St. Mary's books, but with Michael as lead...

Dunno about you guys, but my short foray back into booktubes in July, including Niki's, is what brought that series and a number of others onto my radar...

I'll probably grab the first one at least...

Chapter 24: [spoilers removed]"
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August I am loving this book so far.
Ch 24 (view spoiler)
Through Ch 29 (view spoiler)
The author does a decent job of leaving you satisfied with the number of answers given to common time travel questions...

Ronan has been living on the roof all this time!!!! WTF? And I totally didn't see who the snitch was... That was very surprising! I am so tempted to jump right into the next book, but I will be patient and wait until next week:))) (hide spoiler)]
I think this is the first in the series I am giving 5***** . It had me going through all human emotions and I loved every second of it!
