That was my first thought when they described the sound that emerged on the kid's initial try. Cafe's just not ready for death metal. :)

I can see that, or maybe guh-LAAARE!!

At least we all agree it needs multiple AAAs.

I may have to get over my shyness and try sending Kane a message, asking if he sees AV as a trilogy and wrapped up or if he might return to the universe if the muse strikes him. For sure, I'd love to see (view spoiler)

Yea... I have no idea how it's typed in print, but it's how Bahni Turpin said it on audio...

Some things sound weird at 2x speed... some still work... singing and giggling sounds a bit hyper/manic... like in Wandering Inn...

Nirkatze | 21033 comments Soo wrote: "I have zero problems in messaging Kane. We bonded over my review getting picked as one of the best on Audible. Hahahha"

Your review got picked as one of the best on Audible? That's awesome!!!

I have starstruck syndrome with authors.

Oh eek! Most things I can barely do 1.5x speed--Legends & Lattes I'm on 1.3x--but on Wandering Inn I do 2x. But I can't understand the frost fairies most of the time. >.<

I've been back up at 2.2x/2.4x/2.5x, as much as possible this year... finally cranking things up again... which is mostly keeping my reading from falling even slower, with all the other non-reading things I've been doing (TV binging/etc)...

But yea, it makes the frost faeries sound like hyperactive chipmunks... it kinda works, tho... I have more trouble with Octavia, honestly... she kinda gets into auctioneer mode when she's trying to pull a fast one...

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Audible Reader Review Picks:

It sounds like it's an honor until you read some of the reviews that they pick and it's not. LOL

I think half of the reason why mine was picked was due to the fact that it's not just, I love the story & narrator.

You need 2 elements to be picked as a Reader'c Choice/Rec:
- 5 Star Rating
- Positive Review about Audiobook

That's about it. You don't even need proper grammar or spelling. XD

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments I just have to go back and read the bits with Octavia and the faeries when I get a chance because yeah... I get about 50% of what they're saying at 2.5x and I can't always alter the speed easily if I'm doing something.

That's pretty...disheartening. >.<

Also kind of sad that Audible Reader Reviewer Picks is only for 5 star and positive reviews--not everything deserves that. Better to be honest and articulate about what you liked and why, and what didn't work for you and why, right?

One thing I have liked about watching Daniel Greene's reviews is that he's very adamant about reviews being subjective--and you have to find a reviewer whose taste matches yours, not just trust any old reviewer.

Audible and Goodreads are both owned by Amazon... and GR has had some controversies, over the years, with deleting negative reviews... they've tried to enforce a policy where reviews have to be about the book and not the author... and sometimes, authors have gotten a bit too involved in interacting with negative reviewers and basically started a war, I think?...

Most of that's before my time... I think Soo is a veteran of that war ;)

Nirkatze | 21033 comments Chapter 21--I like how they show the whole menu every time they add an item to it. And the words and little descriptions are pretty fun too.

Wonder when they'll pick up a Mocha. :) Or hot chocolate.

Thaumic Lute just got introduced!

Found your thoughts too Emily! Really enjoyed them--especially describing the relationship as "a bit of froth" and the parallels to Wandering Inn--I was thinking that about the rebuilding too. Also comparing Viv's relationship with violence like that of a recovering addict was very on point.

Nirkatze | 21033 comments Going to listen a little further in Wandering Inn I think, then pick up the next TT tomorrow. Joe something right?

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments Choko, aren't you on Deadhouse Gates? That one is DEpressING.

TTJH #6: A feel good story without enough conflict. Hahhaha

Plenty of weird, couple of shorts with older characters and great time period refs via objects/music/etc.

Broken Room: Russian Doll - As far as I know, we're on the same page because that's what I thought too.

Also, the story did have various EWWW moments. lol

2) Legend of the Phoenix Mobile Game + Legend of the Phoenix CDrama

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments TTJH:lots of alcoholism in these books.

I dont think weve had a bad narrator for these so far which I'm pretty thankful for..

Julian | 759 comments I'm about 80% or so finished with Lux at this point. I'm seeing interesting parallels between this series and the original trilogy. I take it that the timeline of these events are running at the same time as book 2?
