Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments AHHHH Another Audible sale. The 2 for 1 credit sales tend to be what I prefer. There were some great deals on those sales, but this one is too close to the last sale. Someone in their sales planning department is wacked about timing.

message 1905: by Soo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments The Audible sale is another one made for people that have started series. There are a few standalones and first of series books.

I think the romance category may actually have books I want.

Disappointed by the Mystery & Thrillers. It's mostly stuff I've read or not interested in trying.

Only looked at Fiction - Mystery & Thrillers - Romance thus far.

Nirkatze | 21032 comments Any recommendations for the 2-for-1 sale?

And has anyone read Will Wight's Elder Empire series, the one where he's got a 3 book series for each side?

I have all of the books and only read 2 of them. Not as well written or plotted out as Cradle. I was very excited by the dual perspectives angle. Then I listened to the first set & haven't made myself finish them. I've had them for a few years now. Maybe I'll change my mind if I read the rest of the books, but I have to get to that point first. XD

I picked up the first of each for the 2-for-1 sale. At the very least, the will count for the "25 or under" slot in Bingo, which is my last empty box. :)

I also picked up:
Firefly books 2&3 (only ones not in the library)
Space Force
Rise: A Newsflesh Collection
Also got two books in the Expeditionary Force series.

Listening is one of the biggest gifts we can get another. Most people just want to feel like they've been heard.

@Narilka--ditto on Soo! Those look interesting!

I haven't read any Adrian Tchaikovsky yet, but I really want to. I thought of picking up the audiobook, but he's an author I want to read in text. I wouldn't mind trying to read that with you--but I'll take a lot longer!

AV3 Chapter 18--feeling pretty bad for Androidia (which is a great name, btw)

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments It's been only a week since we read L&L. =D

Chat away.

Andrea Vernon - We can always write Kane & ask. He's pretty cool. Though, I basically hope there will be one and he's written #2 & 3 closer together than between #1 & 2.

Timelord Iain | 35314 comments Mod
Looking at his author page, Andrea Vernon & Orlando People are his only published works... and there's a space opera he's been working on since Andrea Vernon #2, according to Q&A section... so I'd say chances are high he'd keep writing in the series, unless he REALLY wants to branch out... and considering how #3 ended, I doubt it's closed...

message 1945: by Soo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments I'm listening to Oh Great! I was Reincarnated as a Farmer. It's interesting to note what parts are more funny in audio, aspects that were cool to read (lots of the technical how to screw over the system/game mechs) are not as fun to listen to, etc.

It's still a hilarious story with fun plot progression. Hopefully, the author will have #2 out soon. It's been about a year. #1 was his debut release and it's done well within the LitRPG niche.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments AV3... I am up to Ch. 20 and I am not surprised I am loving it just as much as the previous two books. Androidea is awesome! And her having the same hang ups and insecurities is just wonderful! I love the C'mon dude! I actually have a friend that is exactly like him and I can't stop laughing! Also, Andrea's mother explaining to her about her own pregnancy was so funny! And I forgot how much I appreciated the people and animals they used as navigation markers when in Georgia:)))

I feel like I should have waited an extra week, like you guys did... I read it last weekend, because I thought we were supposed to, and didn't love it as much... altho I enjoyed it in general, in the end... Andrea Overload, or something...

message 1948: by Choko (new) - rated it 4 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Iain, you and I know best how these books, as much as we love them, have to be spaces out a bit, most preferably with books like Malazan and their ilk, so they have a stronger punch... My other main reads right now are Malazan and a historical Sarum, so this is like entering a mountain spring in a hot summer day. It has a great effect:)))

Do all of Ms. Oh's similes really exist in Georgian dialogue then? 'Cuz that would be something!

Nirkatze | 21032 comments About 50% through Legends & Lattes--through Chapter 15. Really enjoying it, though I can't let my attention wander or I'll lose stuff.

I like that most folk drawn to the café are much like that quote from Chapter 1--trying to find a life path other than what they "are"--or what others think they are. I like the voice Baldree uses for the ratkin baker and I really want to know his backstory. I feel bad for the kid with the lute. I'm sure he'll be back. It sounded like he was trying to use it like a guitar.

The antagonists give good tension to the story while still maintaining the slice of life fee. "Insurance" hustlers, folks trying to drag the past back in the door--I've got good anticipation feels rather than dread ones--I'm looking forward to folks getting smacked down.
