Also, Hyun goes hiking with the singer. She thinks it's a date. He thinks it's helping a friend. She comes away from it with happy memories of dating and he's just normal. LOL
I've been reading the newer Parker books by Richard Stark. That author can really write! I'm glad to have more of his books to explore. Good, short novels. The books fit the action/heist spot well.

I feel it was pretty accurate. I thought the storyteller did a great job of giving the Alaska Native viewpoint on a lot of things to the best of my knowledge. I'm born and raised Alaskan, but not Native, and I've spent my whole life in the city, so my knowledge of life in the Bush is mostly second-hand. I did do a two week exchange program about a decade ago, and that was really amazing.
The general Us v. Them is still very strong: the attitude that people who have lived their lives in the city can't really comprehend the life of people who eke their lives out by subsistence (and thus aren't a jury of their peers). There aren't enough stories of Native life being told by actual Natives out there--which is one thing I really liked about this piece. I was shocked to learn that one of the movies mentioned was the first time an Inupiaq was cast to play an Inupiaq in a major film. I didn't realize it was that bad, but then again, I'm not Native.
And the horrible struggles the Native community has had with alcohol--I thought the storyteller did a great job of walking the line. Showing understanding and the facets of the Teddy's story, without forgiving his actions. The good he did doesn't erase the bad. The bad he did doesn't erase the good either. He shot people at point blank range and abused alcohol. He was a loving uncle and a valued member of the community. Both of these are true, and they don't cancel out.

I'd be down for that! I like the casual way that the Wandering Inn BR goes--no pressure for starting or finishing on a deadline. I've been wondering how that would work for a more traditional series.

Started AV2 today too. Seems like it Nirkatze!

@Soo--I was definitely intrigued by the Inukuns too--I tried doing a google search but found very little. I found this article below, but it doesn't mention Inukuns at all.

Will need to look into this a bit more when I'm less distracted. =D

And anyone who doesn't love Miss Persephone Oh is about as humorless as the bison who stepped on the beehive.
Girls' luncheon. (view spoiler)

Native Alaskan doesn't go much of anywhere. The different spellings have similarities for Inukun.
From Midnight Son, I thought it was a tribe that decided to find another place to settle away from the encroaching settlements of the white man.

I have a children's book about the Qalupalik--A Promise is a Promise. Loved that book growing up.

Sock-shoe-sock-shoe? Or Sock-sock shoe-shoe? What's the verdict?
Usually I'm sock-sock shoe-shoe. But if I'm dealing with wet feet that are collecting sand or dirt, then I'm sock-shoe sock-shoe. Is that sacrilege?

Sock sock shoe shoe… getting ready for work is a whole production, for me… I wear compression socks, for my legs, and need to put them on a specific way, since they’re designed to be form fitting and then some…

Choko, do you wear shoes in your house? Or never wear socks? I'm sock-sock shoe-shoe because no shoes in my house. But it's chilly up here so socks are pretty necessary in the winter.
I had house sandals for the longest time... house crocs are better tho, more spongey... I feel 50 years older after working 8hrs on cement floors and standing in the driving compartment of a forklift...
and I generally wear my compression socks, even on days off, for circulation...
and I generally wear my compression socks, even on days off, for circulation...

How do compression socks work? Is it just that the extra squeeze sends blood up more? I've always wondered...

I like light compression socks for gym & hikes. The knee high ones are good for airplane flights and winter.
I haven't found thicker/heavier compression socks that feel good for winter hikes.
High pain tolerance + sensitive skin = need to pay attention to minute details if I don't want to have gigantic blisters/deep cuts from ill fitting socks/shoes/etc.

What Soo said about compression socks... they're best put on as soon as you get up, before your body has a chance to settle more water in legs/etc, or so I hear... basically, being awake and active can cause some swelling of the legs, making socks tigher... getting socks on early avoids that...
For me, I wear compression socks for circulation, varicose veins, and nerve issues that can lead to pinpoint pains and/or blanket numbness/burning when standing in certain ways or putting pressure on certain parts of my leg...
My compression socks are XL ones I can buy at walmart and walgreens... Copper Fit... knee-high... also covers the skin discoloration that's been creeping up my legs for the last decade...
Someone generally asks me about them, every couple months... customers at work, or cashiers at stores... I'm pretty positive about the whole thing, extolling the virtues...
The socks and my diuretic blood pressure meds that make me pee away water buildup, have done wonders for foot sweat issues I have/had, that led me to wearing cargo shorts in winter and hunting for the perfect combo of socks and shoes above 5 years ago...
I still wear cargo shorts in winter... always easier to add a layer than remove one... especially at work...

I find the crocs sweat-inducing, if not wearing socks with them...
Socks & Crocs ;)

Yay! Found a vampire duology by Alex Bledsoe on there. Just finished listening to Blood Groove #1 and it was good! Disturbing and good. More or less the mix that expect from a Bledsoe novel. Need to find 5 more books for Hoopla and I'll have like 2.5 weeks left on the temp card. After that, I'll probably just delete the app.
The whole you can only get 10 books per month is a complete downer. At least with Overdrive, it's 10 max borrowed at a time. I can read as much as I want.

There's a handful of Charles Stross books.
2 Duologies, 1 Standalone, & the 1st book for the New Management series. I was hoping for the last Laundry Files, but no luck.
- Dead Lies Dreaming #1
- Singularity Sky #1
- Halting State #1
- Glasshouse

Through chapter 10 of AV2.. I'm loving how AV (view spoiler)

I loved that part! It's so funny seeing how they can both be friends and on opposite sides. Like hey, I'm arresting you now. Beer later?

He's pretty cool.
Plus, I love that Bahni Turpin learned to say it right and still make sure the character did it wrong. Hahhaha

That makes me think of actors who have to pretend to be bad acting, or singers who have to pretend bad singing.

Time for TTNM #4, The Final Life of Nathaniel Moon. ;)
I'll start #4 after I finish the current book I'm listening to.

I did read a few pages of Legends & Lattes yesterday and then got distracted by many other things. heh
I'll be slower than everyone else. Bwahahah~ *waves the ebook*
I’m fine with the Hoopla system, it’s free and different niche than Overdrive… until I forget to use some credits and the daily/monthly limit was already capped at 7am today… everyone else had the same idea…

Overdrive: Search by title or author & get answers. There may be quirks, but not as many as Hoopla app.
Audible's sale. The most dangerous one of all. Whole website on sale. This type of sale used to happen every year, but I don't think it happened last year.
Depending on the discount, it could be a good time to fill in series/etc. Great time for me to get LitRPG try list books. Well, if they're $5 or less.
Remember that it's only a deal if it's cheaper than an Audible Credit.

Audible sale has already got me! Im up to 6 new purchases to go with the 10 or so books in my "not read" audible pile.

Hoopla has the Graphic Audio versions, but I'm still on a temp card. This is temp card #2 and probably my last. lol
