We just wrapped up the first little arc and going into the 2nd arc with #4. 1 book per week makes it easy to keep in rotation. =D
I've got Andrea Vernon, Jhereg, Wisdom of Crowds, Master of Djinn, Fall of Babel, and who knows what else, on my plate in the coming week... those are just the ones off the top of my head...

You'll have downtime eventually. LoL
Besides, you're doing mostly re-reads. At the rate we're reading TT, you have time to catch up if ya want to. =D
Evil but great book friends am I! lol
Yea... re-reads are definitely supplementing, this year, and making work go by faster/easier...
It's about 50/50, in general...
I keep adding more re-reads...
I forgot about all the new releases in March... Crowbones and Spelunking through Hell and Veronica Speedwell, and others..

I can't decide if I want to try something new (from the older audiobook buys) that isn't Battle Royale. Like, I know I'll enjoy the book, but I'm also not in the mood to read psychological horror that'll be edgy/creepy/gross. lol
OH! I still haven't read Prodigal Son. Maybe I'll start that. It'll end up being a feel good book and I'm totally on board for that right now.
Or a thriller loaded with action. Hm. We've been lacking in choices for new thrillers.

But each book has a different main character. So, we started to change it to whoever is in the next book, like TTM for The Redemption of Michael Hollister #2.
TTDD was the last one we read. The Death and Life of Dominick Davidner
We could have gone with MFTT for Middle Falls Time Travel, but who doesn't like TT for Time Travel? XD
Choko, Emily & I are reading the series on Mondays. Books #1-12 are on Audible Plus. If you have Kindle Unlimited, you can also read/look at the ebook on KU. The books are around 300 pages and end up being 4 or less hours to read.
It's been fun! =D
Books #1-3 were a complete arc. #4 will be starting with a brand new character.

The agency aspects--makes me think of Loki TV series. The plot--makes me think a little of the anime/manga Boku dake ga Inai Machi (aka Erased), if anyone's seen/read it?

I mean... if I don't feel like reading, I don't read... eventually, I'm gonna need to skip something, I'm sure... but so far, I've managed for the most part... just forgot Conjuring of Assassins, then had technical difficulties...

#1 for setting was very well done. Easy insertion of music, items and stuff to show where and when.
Feed the Machine (One of the main mystery lines in story.) =D
I haven't watched either show. Eep!
- Iain, my signs for book burnout has different signs that lead to the same place of less enthused with books. Like, getting annoyed more than usual by shoddy writing, not having as much interest in keeping reading schedules and other stuff.
I'm definitely dealing with cabin fever and eager to do other stuff. Less patient with my health & fitness limitations. It's that you gotta start somewhere to get anywhere, but need patience to be okay starting with better base vs crashing around going, "Must do something else!".
I love living in DC area, but wish it was a little less populated at the moment due to the amount of people seeking parks & not wearing masks/etc. I keep thinking about the brain fog I had from getting Covid & how it took months to mostly recover from that. I'm lucky to have made it & not screwed up too much on work/etc during those months. Yet, I don't think that's going to always be the case. So, not at all eager to get Covid again or see how much more damage it will do to my nervous/respiratory/immune systems + muscular & joint.
The line of keeping precautions and live life isn't easy to juggle. It's been tough on everyone. I'm not the indestructible younger self. I mean, I don't feel that old in my head, but my body lets me know it's not the same. XD
I need more patience with myself. LoL
On the reading front, the comics + light novels have been a great distraction/addition to keep things fresh for me. I've been happy with most of the added selections on Audible Plus & KU.
Most of my talk about books and chat needs are fulfilled here in Vagabond and the Wandering Inn BR.
Yay friends!
Ya'll definitely help keep me more sane vs crazy. =D

Been much happier and more sane-feeling since finding this goodreads group. Heartfelt thanks to everyone. Even book burnout is preferable to book loneliness.
Hey Iain, if Conjuring of Assassins keeps giving you tech difficulties--it's been on my TBR for a while and I'd love to read it. But I am seriously overbooked for March.
re: TTT--flipping through the Vagabond pages to try to find that picture again...I want to read all y'all's thoughts! Don't know if I'll be up to #4 by Mon, but I'll catch up. Really enjoying so far, especially since (view spoiler) . Now the story is definitely reminding me of Erased--which I highly recommend, both in Manga and Anime form. Though I keep yelling at Thomas--just tell the frickin' truth! Okay, not the TT truth, but grab your brother and (view spoiler)

TTT #1: You have to remember that while Thomas did grow into older age, he didn't really grow up. He was definitely in a dumpster fire of depression, self accusations, a sloth on his mom and alcoholic.
Nirkatze, we started talking about TTT around post 967, on page 20.

@Nirkatze: I got it working on my android phone… but I only take my ipod to work with audiobooks…
So I need to read at home in the next 17 days…
So I need to read at home in the next 17 days…

This one has been making the rounds on the FB LitRPG groups. A lot of people like it. A few don't.
The writing is rough, but the concepts are cool & Travis Baldree is doing a great job in making the story fun. Humor and WTF do I do with the whole world changed into a dungeon?

Also the TT series is really good about making you feel nostalgia for the 60's-70's... Even though I definitely didn't live through those decades.. Which made me google feeling nostalgia for a time you didn't live through and I learned a new word! Anemoia is apparently the word for feeling nostalgia for eras you didn't live in

Nirkatze, the page loaded for me? It's been over an hour though.

Cool new word! I love learning new words from books.
Thomas spent some time wondering about how his 50 y/o self was affecting his 17 y/o self--but he hasn't thought about how is 17 y/o self could be affecting is 50 y/o self...
@Iain--why the 17 day limit?

Too true! The raging hormones. Hehehe

Emily, Choko & anyone else that's interested:
Let me know when abouts you want to BR it. I'll probably read it vs listen cause trying to save greens.

Hmm... Black Prism is a bit more fantasy-y.. more magic and such...
Both are good though :)

You mean Carrie? XD"
Whoops yes. Not good with names when listening.

I've been wanting to read the Lightbringer series and would be down for a BR in late May through June if you want company!
I did love the First Law, but I'm not sure I can handle that much Grimdark when life is pretty dark right now... gotta go with what you're in the mood for.

I don't quite have the time office bit down yet. (view spoiler)
And I'm not sure how I feel about Michael Hollister being the next one. :)
@Soo, I'm starting Midnight Son! A little late on Thursday, but it's pretty short. I'm enjoying the storyteller's style. But then, I really enjoy listening to local Native storytellers--there's a reason the art form has survived for centuries!
AV2 is great… and pretty different from AV1… some elements remind me of the Villains Code sequel…

I've been making time to listen to music. All that time spent on making sure to throw in variety was kinda exhausting, but worth it. Now I'm listening to my Starred list on random mix and it's been great. The Starred List was the first list I made on Spotify. It was whatever music that I like or discovered & played a lot. Before Spotify created the "Liked" list, etc. lol
The Liked list is bigger than the Starred List. There are times when I hear a song and I have to think, "What was I feeling/thinking at the time to enjoy this song enough to add to the Starred list?" XD

The audio format was great for this documentary. Nice mix of monologue, interviews & recordings. The soundtracks & sound effects were well balanced.
The glimpses into the slang, local views, some of the fables and the like were cool. It wasn't a good biography or clear crime case though. It was more like, I'm curious about this thing, and I'm going to write about the experience that I pursued. Yet, not from a reporter or investigator drive, but of a regular person. In that manner, it makes sense that the arc as a whole is not completely tidy.

Glad we could help solve your dilemma Julian!

I really liked listening to the narrator. I also really liked the audio format--it reminded me of the NPR stories I listen to on the radio.
I think the way you describe the narrative is very on point, Soo. It's definitely a meander fueled by questions, more then a non-fiction story or true-crime. It doesn't have the answers, just examines the questions. I don't know enough about Inupiat storytelling to know if that is a feature or is unique to this story, but I did find it kind of refreshing and different. We don't often get the answers in real life--that's one of the things I like about fiction--everything is usually wrapped up nicely. But not in real life. Things are messy and we don't often get to know the whys. Doesn't keep us from asking though!
I feel like there were three different highlights that the author was trying to weave together: the Iñukuns, Teddy Kyle Smith, and the friction between Native Alaska and Colonist Alaska.
