Well, Actually (view spoiler)
Also, I have a minor crush on Ms. O. So confident and competent :D
Agree with Iain about the niche genre. Loved Hench, although the tone was a bit different than this one.
The concept of (view spoiler)

I like that we don't have to wait too long to see what's going to happen in this series. It's good about that. Also, maybe all the 70's stuff is due to the fact that the author probably grew up right after that stuff. lol
Author's note did say that #4 took him about 40 years to write.
Oh boy, I think he actually wrote a series based on author + his wife love story with the True Love Story series. XD

Well, Actually..."
I have no idea how his girlfriend put up with him for so long. (view spoiler)
I too love Mrs. O. And she has the best metaphors. And I love the narrator's accents--especially for Ms. O and Rabbi Diamond.
re: scared straight program (view spoiler)
Up through Chapter 28.

TTDD 3... Just finished it. It was not as emotional as the first two, and I thought the time in the academy could have been cut down quite a bit, since the author didn't really give us anything different from that perspective. However, I liked how (view spoiler)
I am enjoying those little Monday reads of ours:)))

Mr. Permafrost! I loved how he was like (view spoiler) He's pretty chill. ^_~

March theme is up? I've got to check that out!

I loved the narrator--she has great comic timing. The only voice that didn't strike me right is The Big Axe, but I think it was either chosen for comic effect or maybe it was just tough to do a deep voice.
Made me laugh every chapter. Each character, throwaway line, and bit of dialogue was crafted for comedic effect. Lots of sweet moments, and lots of people you want to reach in and strangle too.
Sometimes I had trouble keeping focus while listening, but I don't think that was the story's fault.

So, guys, when are we doing the next AV?"
I can do it soon, as well...

I can do it soon, as well...

But also, in the meanwhile... In addition to trying to squeeze in two Narnia books this week, I'm participating in a local library bingo and need to read a nonfiction book, an Alaskana book, and a book with a color in the title before March 7th. I've chosen:
Non-Fiction: Ghosts in the Forest
Alaskana: Midnight Son
Color: A Study in Scarlet
all free in the audible plus catalogue, if anyone is interested in joining me. Books are more fun with people...
Also really should replace the YA I have holding the romance spot with an actual romance, if anyone has an audible plus recommendation...

The story is like Jurassic Park on an alien planet for colonization.
MC is on spectrum & most of that was really well done.
Great narration by Travis Baldree.
If you're looking for light SF, with huge dinos, this one fits the bill.

I'm glad AV (view spoiler)
I can start soonish too... Y'all can decide whenever, I'll try to squeeze it in :D
The romance drama was definitely my least favorite aspect of the book... but they sorted it out in the end, instead of dragging it out or ruining it...

That sounds interesting and fun! Added to TBR.
@Soo--care to start Midnight Son on Thurs?
@Iain, Emily, Choko, (am I missing anyone??)--good to start AV2 now?

Midnight Son - Thursday should work. =D
I'll make it work...
I've been re-reading An Unexpected Peril... I read it last year, but it doesn't feel like it... I remember almost nothing about the book... refreshing my memory for the release of the 7th book next weekish...

Haven't heard of that series--so much new stuff gets tossed around in here!

Tis the question of the moment. =D
I've seen the movies and shows for Battle Royale. Read a bit of the manga. I have not read the book. At first, I held off because translation, then because I know it's going to be a horror of a mess with barf visuals.
Alas, the audiobook has been sitting in my audio library for a while. I should dust it off and creep myself out. XD

And yech, barf visuals. My Japanese cinema teacher was overly fond of showing us violently gory or pink films--I do not have good memories of that class or of watching movies like Battle Royale and Suicide Circle. Too much grown-up culture shock for a new student barely old enough to go to R-rated movies by herself.

Historical Mystery series with colorful covers... MCs are a independent lepidopterist and a gruff taxidermist (wears an eyepatch sometimes, to rest an eye damaged in a panther / large cat attack on an old expedition)... in typical historical cozy fashion, the female lead has ties to royalty... and the MCs constantly get tangled in nearby murder mysteries...
I really like the series... found it pretty early and read the new release each year...

Weed and Seo Yoon learn the flower arrangement skill. The NPC that taught them was happy to have people learn from him and he gave them sorel flowers.
Weed arranged some into Seo Yoon's hair and leveled up. Cause she's beautiful and the flowers are great on her.
She arranged the flowers on Weed's hair, got a little exp and the flower died! Weed killed the flower due to not being as pretty.
🤣🤣🤣
There's a translator note about the flower meaning always with you. Love the details. 🥰

Try Hella or XomB. I bet your zany library will have a copy.

Aw I love horror movies. Not the needless gore ones. The Japanese horror was very popular with the psychological & intense brutality horror. Then S. Korea and Thailand became leaders in the genre too.
Conjuring of Assassins seems to work on my Android Phone, where it won't work on my iPod... so I'll be making time to read it super late...
Was starting to think I wouldn't be able to read it, when Hoopla still hadn't fixed it, after I sent in a ticket (and I updated the app)...
I already knew I wasn't willing to buy #2, when #3 isn't available to finish the trilogy...
Anyway, I'll try to make time for it at home, in the coming days, if super late...

Soo, LMS, haha! He is not a pretty man! But at least he doesn't scare people in the subway just by projecting weird intensity out of super-muscular body:))) And he cries just about any time he has to spend money:)))

Speaking of, the girl in their party who is a celebrity in real life and does the mesmerizing dance, is he going to break her heart? She is all into him, but he barely notices her... I kind of feel bad for her, since he is all about SY...

The singer is great, but she doesn't try to actually interact and get to know Hyun. She's like the typical popular girl that tries to manipulate the situation into something she wants vs asking Hyun out on a date.
You would think that after knowing Hyun for a year or so (actually seems longer because it's 4x real world time in game), she would have figured out Hyun enough to know that she has to be super blunt with him or talk to his sister to learn more about him.
Both girls are a bit delusional when it comes to Hyun, but I think Seo Yoon has been more honest. She doesn't try to manipulate Hyun. She just asks him to do stuff or does things for him.

Last Exit - New book by Max Gladstone with alternate dimensions. I flagged it to read and going to hope for a sale on the audio.

I have more hope for Seo Yoon!
It's the first time that she's questioning Weed (that I know of) in the story! LOL
Weed's involved in a rescue quest and he threw down a challenge to the bad guys.
Seo Yoon stared at him (Weed) with a blank expression. She wondered just what kind of plan Weed had that he would confidently provoke the Embinyu Church like this. She couldn't help but doubt his sanity.
Hahahhahah
"I will be able to fight as much as I want." (Van Hawk)
"Let's start a festival of blood." (Torido)
Van Hawk and Torido prepared for battle. And Weed, turned his back without a second thought.
"Run for it!" Weed's decision was to run.
Of course, there was no way that Weed would have planned to die, fighting the Embinyu Church till the bitter end. Such a thoughtless plan, was for Weed, the same as pouring out all of his life savings on lottery or gambling.
Seo Yoon gave a small sigh of relief and followed suit.
Hahhahaha!

I liked it because it's not just lovey dovey but takes into account the downsides of not knowing how to cook, etc.
Seo Yoon does start to talk eventually, but it takes a while. She's super smart and very guarded. You'll laugh when you realize when she works out to talk more. XD
She doesn't talk much though. I mean, it's hard to change a not talking defensive habit of years in just a few months to a year.
Even when I try to cut back a bit on overbooking BRs, you guys rope me in... then I decide to take a day off and binge more Doctor Who... near the end of the Martha Jones season of David Tennant era, now...
This season did ALOT of foreshadowing... I mean, every episode has multiple elements... fake guns, age manipulation, Harold Saxon, memory loss, and I'm sure more I'm forgetting...

Bah! The book I'm listening to now is yet another story that I just want to be over. It's annoying how it's not even a long story (on audio) and yet it's taking me longer to finish. Heh
