Dealing with real life and the game go hand in hand for this story. I already have an idea of how the end will be. Though, I can't really imagine a real end to this series.
Yeah, I wondered if the reviews/comments about his family were actual detraction, but it's a core part of the foundation for how Hyun is who is and what he does. I like them too. Though, it took a while for me to accept his sister. She does seem a bit conniving.

I'm liking the flashbacks more, so far... altho I think characters are going to start overlapping, like the section chief?
I made it past the 1/3 mark... (view spoiler)
The main timeline just hasn't really impressed me with the action, yet?... throwing the fashion model out the window in book 5-6 is still a highpoint in the series, for me :D (having like a handful of seconds to take out a room of enemies then jumping on a deadweight dead body to create enough resistance on the tether to keep the model from splatting on the street was pretty epic)...
EDIT: Meant 50%... looks like 33% was more like when I originally had the thought... managed to read some more at work, in between projects...

I know I've read thrillers where we get to see them at the young age and train, but I can't remember any of the books. lol Can you guys?
I could see why there are two time lines, but they didn't necessarily make the other one more strong or stand out. I liked both, but didn't enjoy the flip flop between the two.
Priya is great. I hope we see more of her.
I enjoyed getting the extended flashback at young Court. =D
Overall, good fun but not my fav for the series.

Unnie is older sister.
Used for close friends or family members.
You'll also see Name-nim and the 'nim' is like sir/mr/mrs/ma'am.

Like
Sister/Brother of Parent would have Aunt/Uncle would be Emo/Samchon.
However Aunt's husband would be Emoboo.
I don't remember what the wife of the uncle would be called, but they're a different name label.

Weed learned a strong sculpting skill for battles. He uses it and he's like, that's it? Then it all goes to hell in a hand basket!
LOL

MLS V8, he just made a sculpture of pure gold and is crying like a baby, because he spent so much money! And that is in game only. In real life, the hunting party just invited him to go to a concert in reality, and he is freaking out, because tickets cost money:)))

I count it as long as it meets the other rules... (started reading within 2-3 weeks of someone else, was an intention to Buddy Read and discuss mentioned, say more that "I read it")

It's a very popular indie serial on Royal Road, but I wasn't able to get into it like the Wandering Inn. I never made it beyond the first chapter/etc on RR. It's already been released on Amazon & Audible so I'm not sure why there would be a Kickstarter.
Maybe they're trying to get money to make the other audiobooks. I know most of the indie/new authors are doing that if they have a reader base.
A lot of the LitRPG and popular webserials from Royal Road & other writing platforms are being published in ebook format & audiobook.
It's a mixed bag. On hand, it's cool people are willing to go out and get their writing published. On the other hand, 95% of them need more editing, more experience writing & better writing techniques and know how to tell a complete story.
Sierra Six feels pretty short, when you look at the 2 storylines separately… I’m used to more complex stories that go on forever in this series… almost done now…

@Soo, re: Mother of Learning kickstarter--it's for a printed copy of the book.

Like, I enjoy supporting Pirateaba with Patreon & buying the audiobooks, but I'm not sure I'd be interested in buying a print version of the series. I really do prefer reading it on the website vs ebook. The ebook/print would be a different experience and maybe more aggravating to me due to what I consider inconsistent writing due to many writing experiments.
Choko! I started reading LMS on Novel Pub, but Vol24 1-4 doesn't have the full chapters. I find that I have to go between Novel Pub and Read Light Novels to get the full story.
Here's the link for Read Light Novels:

I think it's weird when a stranger wants to impose an opinion on someone they don't know. Like, it's one thing for me to read a random review and have opinions on the review. Unless it's a review by a friend, I rarely make a comment or "like" it. My opinions are just my opinions.
On the flip side, I have had a couple of cool conversations with strangers because it's a review noted by a mutual friend. I don't get the whole be aggressive in a negative manner online deal. I understand it from an outsider point of view, but it's just not something I'm interested in doing myself.

People get so stupid sometimes when they disagree.

Very weird to have random people aggressively commenting on reviews. I will like a review if it was useful, but yeah, I'm not going to go comment on a stranger either, unless I maybe have a question. Everyone has their own opinions.
Just started Impact Winter. I see what y'all're saying about it being better as a TV show. But since I often just listen to TV shows anyway and sometimes don't look up much, I'm flowing along ok. In Chapter 1 (view spoiler) Sometimes it's a little hard to keep track of who is who, but I'm doing ok so far. The different actors helps. It is interesting having a "book" with no narration though.

I feel like life should be full of passion. Nothing wrong with feeling stuff to the extent of that feeling, good or bad. It's all a part of your life, right? Obviously, that doesn't keep me from going all neanderthal and growling in my head with anger at some stuff in life. I mean, I'm human. I get mad too. Hahahah

For a short audiobook, it felt really long to listen to. XD

I really like the idea of a multiple voice actors audiobook even with sound effects. But this one missed the mark for me

Most of the reviews I comment on, are unreleased books with discussion about book names/etc...

I comment on strangers reviews all the time, but it is either a question, or something to uplift the author of the review, like a thanks or a great job. I did, once, long ago, get into a discussion with someone, who had what I considered to be a poisonous review, just said I disagree with the premise, and after that the person accused me of being a horrible person, I don't even remember what it was about... I think I stood up for the right of every author to lead their characters wherever they choose, but she felt that the author has responsibilities to their readers to live up to their expectations... Writing is art, the artist should have the right to create whatever they want, and we as readers should have the right to read it or not, like it or not, buy it or not... But we shouldn't dictate to the author... So, I turned out to be the bad person in the situation... The funny thing is, I didn't like the way the book went either, but it was what the author wanted... In my mind, I am just not going to read this author anymore. This is why when I find someone whose writing fits me, I trust them to lead me in their story...
But that was the last time I expressed my disagreement...
Too many BRs... just realized I never read Conjuring of Assassins with Julian (looking at my spreadsheet)... and it returns in 11hrs... oops... gonna have to check it out again...

You can bookmark both websites and can have a second source ready if you need it.
Like, I'm pretty sure both website places are presenting the same translations, but the difference is in the format of the website and whoever ported the translations onto the site. Since Vol22, there are more errors on Read Light Novels & structure issues of not having spaces between words & stuff.
Spelling mistakes may be on Novel Pub, but it doesn't have the sentence structure problems.
Vol24 is the one where Novel Pub did not import the entire Ch1-4. I'm not sure if there were problems before that.
Also, you have to kinda swing with the name changes depending on who did the translation. The organizer in me wished that they had made the effort to write down the names that have been used and continued to do it that way for continuity. LoL
Despite all the issues, I really enjoy reading LMS! =D

A bit more emo than I enjoy, and aspects of the plot are a little overdone, but I'm still enjoying it fine. It was a good distraction for walking around the grocery store. (view spoiler)

And Indira Varma was evil Italian vampire lady! Did not recognize her voice.
Nothing really changed in my initial impressions above. Though I agree with everyone who said that this doesn't feel like a wrap-up standalone.

It had a very Brit post-apoc vibe that is a hit and miss for me in shows. Like there's a kind of dreary despondency that clouds everything as "nothing good will ever happen, no point in hope" deal that gets old to watch after a while.
There's a certain European trend for 'sad' or 'horror' that always seems to have similar elements of bleak and bleaker. lol
It can be well done, but it's not something I want to watch a bunch of in a row. As in a bunch of different shows doing it vs episodes of a series.
For this story, the narrators were great, but the story content was less than stellar and boring. Deflated cool concepts for me.
I've been listening to easy stories between 2.7-3.3x. With the sound effects and noise, I knocked down to 2.3x to listen. I kept thinking it was over, but it kept going. XD

One part I did like was (view spoiler)
And glad I didn't try to count it as "stand alone novel" in bingo.

Also, I just got to the point which you had told me about, where Weed became Undead Weed:)))) Cool Skil, if you don't get killed by your allies by mistake...

I believe there are only 4 Wyverns alive at that point. So that number was probably a mistake by translators. LOL
The series is totally worth the little effort to read. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Had to send a ticket to Hoopla, because Conjuring of Assassins is bugged... hopefully they fix it... won't play for me, tried everything...

Second, them going on the rollercoaster and discussing how much damage they could take if they jumped or fell and what parts of their bodies they are willing to sacrifice, funny!
Third, going to the zoo and discussing how different animals would taste and the difficulty in dismembering and cooking them - priceless!!!

My bad... I threw it in at the laundromat, the other day, when I needed a pause on Witchshadow... finished it in between a couple other reads at work and home...
Bit late, but if you want to catch up, I can comment a bit more on events in the first book... I plan to read the 2nd & 3rd books soonish...
I haven't been talking much, the last handful of days... busy at work, and tired at home...

I've heard reviewers describe it as a blatant cash grab and have debated whether it was worth picking up. Is it still enjoyable despite that?

@Choko--I'd do the audible listen for the Andrea Vernon books with you too Choko. :) Have you started already?
I'm trying to stretch out my listens to let Wandering Inn take longer, so that I make it to the next audio release without withdrawal...
