Vagabond Treehouse (2023) [Beware of Chicken 3 - December 4th]

So, somewhere in Vol22, the Geomichis have decided to swim the vast oceans to get from where they are (a remote island that's like a vacation place) to Morata, Weed's city in the north.
These guys were losing vitality and stamina from the constant swimming. A herd of sharks came to attack them. They saw the fins coming and were like, Shark Fin soup! LOL
The attitude of the dojo crew: In real life, we cannot face adversities like Royal Road. Face all tests with full steam & strength!
lol
Sandman Slim - Plan it for later this year. I'm sure there are many in the group that would like to read the series. =D

Been slowly continuing with my rewatch of Doctor Who series 2, the first David Tennant season... and I really do love everything about this season more than the first... less cheesy...
Cheesiest episode is probably the Christmas Special that introduced the character... that's also kind of like a real-time exploration of David Tennant's interpretation of the Doctor (once he wakes up)
2x1 -- New Earth -- Cassandra the skin tarp, revisted, in the year 5 billion and 23... and Face of Boe again, and a prophecy...
2x2 -- Tooth and Claw -- Queen Elizabeth, werewolves, and the setup of the Torchwood mystery/arc for the season...
2x3 -- School Reunion -- Sara Jane Smith guest stars, a companion from the original series, and Anthony Head (Giles from Buffy) plays an alien school principal...
2x4 -- Girl in the Fireplace -- iconic episode with lots of time travel and Madam du Pompadour...
2x5+6 -- Rise of the Cybermen + Age of Steel -- return of an old baddie, in an alternate dimension, more of Rose Tyler's dad/family...
2x7 -- Idiot Lantern -- weird one about a TV signal monster in 1953 UK, around the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II...
Next up:
2x8+9 -- Impossible Planet + Satan Pit -- another iconic two-parter... this one introduces the Ood, who carry around brain orbs, and a planet orbiting a black hole that is the prison for a Satanic creature... lots of 666 allusions and stuff...
Been pretty great rewatching, instead of having to find something else that interests me right now (mostly watching while eating and just before bed)...
The website I linked for Choko has been great, too... it even has all the Christmas specials and Children in Need mini specials and webisodes, if you want to be a completionist... those are usually the hardest to find... since they fall outside of season continuity...

Sandman Slim is definitely a series with it's ups and down... it's generally split into trilogies... I enjoyed all but some of the 2nd trilogy, basically... I almost quit around book 6, but I'm generally glad I persevered after a long break...
The finale of book 12 also left the door wide open for the character to be revisited sometime down the road, after writing some new series...

I trailed off on Doctor Who around Matt Smith's exit though, and I haven't watched any since. Keep meaning to go back and catch up.

Didn't take long for GR to break again... no notifications in 5hrs...
I can do Sierra Six in the next few days...
I can do Sierra Six in the next few days...

Will probably start the second book in the series later this week.

If I went by just #1, I would not readily recommend it to people. I read all of them and liked the whole. The core strength for the trilogy lie within the characters and setting. It made it good fun to read.

Brian, notifications are broken again. I would just bookmark certain pages and check in during the day. lol
I'll start Gray man in a few days. =)

@Julian, Soo--what is the Hunter series? Sounds interesting!
"Interesting" being the key word of my life.

Hunter #1 - This series is on the Audible Plus list I made for you. LOL
Well, either the list I made for you or the one I made for me. You got both lists.
Yay! We can BR Impact Winter here. Let me know when you have time to read it or we can read it when we get to it. I try to genre hop on my books to keep my brain engaged.

Nirkatze, I downloaded Impact Winter from Audible Plus. Ready to read that when you are.

I tend to prefer single narrators and occasionally 2 narrators over a full cast production, and especially over one with sound effects...

Snowageddon 2 is upon the Midwest... freezing rain -> slush -> 5-9 inches of snow over the next 8hrs...

ONE V 7, Ch. 1... Weed just have life to his first statue... "Master!" A loyal steed. Weed was overwhelmingly pleased. "Yes, I am your master." However, the wyvern had a question after having displeased looked over its body "Why am I so ugly?" "......" "Did you sculpt me with your feet?" "......" "I'm really disappointed to have come to life this ugly"... Hahahaha!!!

I'm with Choko. It's so-so and rather dry. So, all the emotional stuff just comes across as annoying or overblown drama.
(view spoiler)
LMS I know right? The sculptures are all like: Why didn't you finish me so that I'd look good?
LOL

Also, it feels like I have to decode a bit of code to get the sentence at times. lol
I'm amused by how much patience I have for a story that I like. Heh
The Geomichis are still on their swimathan to Morata. Got lucky and landed on an island with one of the Royal Road top swordsman. Each of them had a duel against him and it was fun to see how that went.
Also, Hyun & Seo Yoon go on vacation together. Hyun told her that she had to earn the money for vacation on her own and gave her a stupid high amount to save up. LOL
She's definitely falling for this scrooge guy, but she only sees the good in him. XD
Meanwhile, he thinks she's too good for him and believes that she will get a Prince Charming that will fit her better.

I should put down LMS and read Legion of Flame, but I haven't done it. heh
I knew this was going to be a problem! *pokes self*
My current hazy plan for Legion of Flame is to listen to it a few times and skim the book.

Wow, they are going on vacation together??? Wow! I am so looking forward to the development of that relationship! In the previous book he was following her around in the form of an Orc:) She had no idea it was him. And he is probably going to end up making thousands of statues of her eventually, kind of like the old sculpture did of his wife... Sweet!
About him doing that ice sculpture in real life, that was very unexpected and really cool!

That whole going out to eat, Hyun making the ice sculpture and then treating the Geomichis to a fancy dinner was great and totally not expected. =D
Currently in Vol23: During another quest chain.
A cool player named Marley joined Weed. He's a bard and the stuff he can do with music is neat.
You know how Weed is like in hunting/training mode, fight fight fight!
Marley: Can we take a break? We've been fighting nonstop for two days.
Weed: I rested plenty just now.
Marley: When?!?
Weed: I yawned twice.
(Direct Quote:) If this was a break than did this mean that the nap that workers took briefly during lunchtime was a vacation?!?
LOL

You know, readers will complain about how a character is over powered and everything happens in a manner that's too neat.
I really like how Hyun is a regular guy with above average intelligence and a good heart that's been a bit twisted by his life experiences. He's not a good guy or a bad guy. He's a guy made up of many hardships and smart enough to figure out complex methods in a variety of situations.
I like that while he is smart & strong, he has flaws like the inability to sing or lack of desire to appreciate art. Though, he's starting to enjoy art more due to his profession in the game.
He doesn't know how to socialize or make small talk. Dating just means spending money. College is lame because it costs money. He has double standards where he wants his younger sister to be happy & succeed in high school, college, romance, etc but he doesn't try to gain those things for himself.
It's a nice character build that gets a wide range of reader response. Lots of fun to read.

I've held off reading the last book for several reasons, but I'll get to the last one in Sandman Slim this year.
Dead Set is good. That's the one I just read. =)
