The vodka stuff made me laugh and it was cool to learn about the more expensive vodka brands.

@Choko: So I've been following through on my "threat" to start watching Doctor Who again... and season 1 really is my least favorite...
1x1 -- Pilot/Rose -- weird plastic monsters, weird Mickey & the trash bin
1x2 -- End of the World -- some solid moments, not a fan of Cassandra the skin tarp
1x3 -- Unquiet Dead -- weird zombies, but notable like Gwen that later played an important Torchwood character (different/similar role)...
1x4/5 -- Aliens of London & WW3 -- not a fan of the fart aliens, but Harriet Jones is introduced
1x6 -- Dalek -- decent episode
1x7 -- Long Game -- another weird one, with Simon Pegg
1x8 -- Father -- weird Reaper Monsters, but some real family moments...
1x9/10 -- Empty Child & Doctor Dances -- one of my favorites from season 1, introduction of Captain Jack Harkness, and notable creepy/misunderstood "bad guy"
1x11 -- Boom Town -- fart alien revisited (one, anyway) -- less juvenile humor, more depth to alien, more enjoyable
1x12/13 -- Bad Wolf & The Parting of the Ways -- finale, lots of good moments... first half is mostly misdirection...
Reward: I've reached the David Tennant era, and it's good from the get-go... from what I remember...

Re:Orphan X: it's awful convenient how Evan always gets the mission he needs to make personal growth ;)

I do like Evan's interaction w/ the latest client.

Also might start Chimera 2 soon then. Pretty sure it's on my Hoopla
Thing are definitely heating back up for OX in that epilogue… I’m assuming District Attorney Mia will play a part in de-escalating with (view spoiler) … their relationship is definitely getting more and more serious…
Wally was about as bumbling as could be, lol…

Yea... Evan's a much more interesting character, to me, than Gentry... Gray Man books are great for James Bond-esque action sequences...
Evan has more character growth... kinda like the show Barry or something... fish out of water, trying to be normal...

I got Reincarnation to try. Hopefully, it'll be ok vs bad. XD
Plus a couple of books to fill series I've read & want to keep.

Orphan X. I loved this story. Seemed like we got a more personal image of X this series. This series never gets old for me. Can’t wait til #8

Normally, there's a banner on the front page, but sometimes Audible forgets to do it. I signed up to have the email sent and that's usually how I know. Though, sometimes I don't get the email. lol
One of us usually posts about the sale.
Here's the link: https://www.audible.com/special-promo...
The nice thing about the 2 for 1 credit sale is that you can get two books for the $10/1 credit. With this promo, you also get a $5 coupon too.

WebToon releases new series every few weeks. I learned from friends that the English version gets the elongated releases. Probably because English customers are more likely to pay to read ahead. *eyeroll*
Anyways! There's a new action thriller called Manager Kim and it's like the comic version of the movie Taken. Gritty action and situational humor that made me laugh.
You can wait for the slow release on WT or read up to Ch20:

Kim and Joe Ledger would be great pals. Kim could be like Evan's dad. LOL
if you don't get any notifications for a few hours, check the discussions tab for new updates...
Goodreads is a mess of a website, anymore... they break weekly... accidentally or on purpose...

Picked up Flametouched and Wraith... 2 standalones, so I didn't just expand my series TBR...
First one caught my eye because Simon Vance narrates, and the reviews are all super high...
Blurb reminds me of Goblin Emperor / sequel...

I'll try...
Notifications have been broken so long, the discussions tab is getting unwieldy... I also think discussions tab (new) notifications are breaking and not updating...
I'm really starting to be disappointed there isn't some alternative website we could all be using, that was functional...
I feel like GR is going to break, fundamentally, at some point, and we're gonna be screwed...

yea... I understand that part... but discussions have been staying (new) even after I read them... the ol' "comments not registering they've been read already" bug that usually pairs with notifications breaking, for awhile...

Well since I resisted the last sale, maybe I'll get something this time :)

I picked up Deathstalker and Ancestral Night. Haven't read anything by either author yet, been wanting to give them a try.
So, do these 2-for-1 credit sales mean you can only get books if you have credits? It looked like it bumped me up a membership level when I checked out... will have to keep an eye on that.
Aaand then I tested that theory out by adding Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams and The Collected Stories of Philip K. Dick Volume One: The King of the Elves up. So it seems like you can buy more than two books, but only two books at a time? Clunky system...
Anything on the Sale that y'all already have and would recommend? Looking to expand my audiobook library...

In the thriller category, we're fans of Gray Man, Orphan X, and Joe Ledger, when they pop up on sales lists...
UF we like Laundry Files and a ton of other stuff...
Michael J. Sullivan's Riyria series and connected works are good, in Fantasy
Sanderson we like, in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, anywhere really...
Small Medium isn't Seiple's best work, but it's connected to the Threadbare series...
We love Peter Clines' Threshold series... Paradox Bound, a standalone, is on sale here...
Robert Jackson Bennett is a good newish fantasy author... Foundryside is on sale... after reading that, I went back and read his previous trilogy... Foundryside trilogy ends this year, I think...
War of the Rose Throne is a series I've been reading last year... one book left to come, I think... Peaky Blinders + magic...
I think that's everything I can recommend from this sale... only like half the inspiration is 1st in series on sale... rest is mid-series, which isn't immediately helpful, and more of an investment...

Deathstalker is great. I wasn't a fan of Ancestral Night.
Iain's suggestion are great.
I always check the library to see if I can borrow a book. I use the sale to buy stuff that I can't borrow, get books to complete series I'm already reading or by authors I follow.
It's also a decent time to try out new books that I have in my Audio TBR and don't want to pay full price. Lots of indie authors don't necessarily make it to libraries.
Will try to list some books on the sale that Iain hasn't mentioned later. =D
-- Alt to GR: We could start a Discord server to chat. While we can't update our books on there, it would be an easy way to talk in general or chat about books.

(Didn't list some books because it's in the middle of a series.)
- Artemis
- Skyward
- The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.
- Paradox Bound
- The Singularity Trap
- Foundryside
- Uncanny Collateral
- Arrows of the Queen
- The Quantum Magician
- Skullsworn
- Heart's Blood
- Orphan X
- The Boy from the Woods
- Devoted

Added book 1 of Laundry Files and Threshold to Wish List.
I've read everything Sanderson in print, and the main books of Sullivan, though I might try the Chronicles on audio. I haven't been able to make myself go back and read the prequels when I already know the ending, so maybe audio is a good compromise. Speaking of Sullivan--the Fairlane Kickstarter opens Tues! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...)
I've noticed (so far) that I am really bad at "reading" audiobooks--I miss about 50% of the information when I'm listening. Wandering Inn has been kind to me, since I can spot check online, and the narration is frickin' amazing. But I tried Big Damn Hero and while I really enjoyed the narration, I had a hard time following. I'm hoping I will get better with practice.
Just saw your list Soo--looking into it! A bunch I've already read, but a bunch I've never heard of too!

I believe you can buy extra credits whenever you need them.
A few of us have tried out a bunch of the paid membership book & audiobook programs. For me, I worked out a way to get my money's worth with Kindle Unlimited and Audible memberships.
With Amazon Prime & Kindle Unlimited - I have a decent selection of audiobooks that are part of the Read & Listen category.
I look for the KU membership sale and get 2 years at a time. You save 40-50% by getting 2 years on the discount.
There's a discount for some audiobooks if you have the Kindle book. A lot of those books tend to be on KU. Iain and I use that system a lot. Borrow ebook on KU and buy the audiobook for cheaper. I do it for the ones that are $1.99 to 7.49 range. Less than a credit on Audible.
This system works well for me as long as I read about 200 books a year. I see the paid membership as a way to get lower priced books/audiobooks. The regular price for everything costs 2-3x more.
If Audible didn't make the Audible Plus program, I was planning on limiting my audiobooks or canceling. With Audible Plus, it adds more options for me to listen to books and gives a lot more value to the membership.
It sucks that things are moving towards membership/paid, but I saw that coming for a long time.
