I'm open to zooming ahead... Narilka & Saar don't seem to have much time for that series, with their limited reading time... it's already taken 3-4 months to read 2 short books, and I'd like to read more, sooner than later...

I am now a lv101 Sculptor! Woo!
I've sculpted a total of 4 things that give me a 2% experience boost for each kill. XD
I have a dragon familiar that's only good for making my pack carry more stuff. Doesn't do anything else really.
Plus a rabbit pet that gives me a 2% speed boost.
At least, I can summon a Golem to fight, but it's pretty weak and hits like 20. LoL
There's a bunch of skills and stuff to level up, but I have to rely on mobs dropping the skill books. I think the highest I have anything leveled up to is lv7.

Julian, woohoo!

Part of what I love about this series is how he's learning to become more than the small slice of life that he had crammed himself into and that development is awesome! So funny, ridiculous, sad and outrageous.

That word grimdark. I was thinking about it and how it's come about. It's not like there weren't dark action/etc stories out before the word was popularized. Lots of horror stories are grimdark, but you wouldn't necessarily call a horror story grimdark? Or would you?

I'm really enjoying my Captain Vorpatril's Alliance re-read... been a few months since I re-read the "main" books in the series... all that's left, now, is this Ivan Vorpatril book, the last Miles Vorkosigan book CryoBurn and the Countess Vorkosigan book Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen...

Choko! When you get to Vol17, we will have to share a laugh and cry about the events in that volume.

I have to do it within a few weeks. I could get the Dorothy Dunnett books for the other series to BR with the Erstwhile Corner group, but I'm on the fence. I mean, I know I'll get them eventually, but the plan was to get it when I'm going to read it.
Trying to think of books I want to get in ebook format. I prefer epub format. I dislike the mobi/azwi but grew to accept to a point because it's getting harder to download & keep personal files. The way digital is handled by all of the bookstores has changed & become limited to app vs download to your system & access easily without hacks.

Nicholas Hook is a great character too. Born into trouble for sure I can't but hope he gets a break soon! Very violent and brutal beginning and I am hooked (no pun).

I don't think all of Cornwall's books will have this pacing, but I'm down to read them with you! =D

Agincourt was awesome! The other books have been blah to blah blahs. So, it's nice to be reading Legendary Moonlight Sculptor & getting a mix of laughs, ooooo's and subtleties to keep my imagination happy. Even with the somewhat off-kilter translation, I don't find it hard to dive into the story & enjoy all the elements of the series. =)

LMS to save the day! It may have dark elements but it's definitely more funny than not. =)

Yea... Snowpocalypse in the Midwest... 6-17 inches in my area...

I thought it was just me... it broke right when Nirkatze accepted my friend request :D
Wondered if maybe that was what was breaking it for some people and not others...

Time for a dumb show on netflix!
The Hungry Dreaming finally made it to Audible yesterday... 7 months late... I swear it got lost in Audible's production black hole... not the first time that's happened to Craig Schaefer...
Anyway... too late for me... I already read the ebook, in my haste...

I haven't quite finished the Pendergast books, yet, or started the Nora Kelly ones... 2 Pendergast left, I think... soon, tho... and I still need to read Relentless before Sierra Six...
If I'm only reading ~20 books/month, I'm pretty booked up, it seems...

I know when I read less, I'm more about enjoying the books vs pushing to trying new authors/series.

I'm mostly pushing on things I've already started... and the January list of new releases I missed in 2021/2022...

I've read the first book twice... did the re-read a few weeks ago... make time for that, and we're set to read #2 together at some point... the books are short, so they're no big commitment... but there's like 42 of them...
Having a Buddy should keep me on some kind of schedule, instead of letting it fall by the wayside... I read the first book for the first time a few years ago...
I had some idea of following specific characters, the first time I read the first book, but now I'm just gonna do them in publication order... see the connections as they come...
The first 2 books are 2 halves of a larger story, following Rincewind the kinda mage, and a variety of characters, being controlled by the gods in a game of celestial D&D...
The Color of Magic
The Light Fantastic
Equal Rites
