Hahaha
Choko, you'll die laughing and then yell at Weed at this scene.

LOL
Theres been a few narrators where their accents are just not good and made me cringe..
I generally like Mary Robinette Kowal's narrations, but there are some accents she does that feel like nails on chalkboard to me lol

So... I read Others #6, then Wayward Children #6, and went back and finished Free Bastards today...
Yea... the middle-ish chunk was slow... and unlike what I expected from a visit to Hispartha... and honestly, the ending was kinda tame... but it seemed like the best way to resolve things, if French wants to move on for awhile...
In many ways, it's how the first 4 book arc of Shadows of the Apt ended... but Shadows of the Apt has 6 more books, because that war isn't over...

I'll dig into Wayward Children this weekend. I'm erasing the terrible narration in the last book by re-reading Wandering Inn Vol2. lol
which book?... #5 was narrated by author, #6 by a new-to-series narrator...
Free Bastards was alright... but like you said, the real ending was kinda rushed... tons of time jumps and such... definitely wasn't feeling the rush to go back and finish, after taking a break... nothing was ever quite as good as that first book, which sucked me in quick...

Free bastards: You have to dig deep on the review page to find one below 3-4 stars with anything bad to say...
And I'm a big fan of Schaefer... already read/own The Loot tho, and the 2nd in the Charlie McCabe series...

Free Bastards: Did you like how Oats decided to at the end? I wasn't surprised.
Craig Shaefer's writing doesn't get better and that bugs me. Cause it's in solid amateur writing territory. I find reading his books to be underwhelming, and his characters/plot never reach the potential that is foreshadowed in the writing.
He was part of my try everything on KU phase. It's weird to dislike a series/author that the majority of my friends enjoy.

Yea actually... that has the potential to lead to a "relapse" like Logen Ninefingers in First Law World books... or they could go on desert adventures, if author chose... or just a quiet retirement, I guess...
Yea... I still like Craig Schaefer... altho I think I like his Ghosts of Gotham / Greek Mythology world more than the First Story mega-verse that's still writing in the Daniel Faust and Harmony Black series after the resolution...

I kept trying though! Read four books before I decided I don't care to try anymore.

I've liked everything he wrote except the Witch's Grave trilogy and to a lesser extent the Revanche Cycle (which Witch's Grave relied on)...

Cincy? I know nothing of sports but many moons ago I lived in Oxford, OH.

Picked up a bunch from the $5 sale, and saw tons of good stuff I already read...
IQ
Death Cultivator (rest can be got for $7.49 with KU + Whispersync)
What Big Teeth
The Affair of the Mysterious Letter
Clovenhoof (wishlist)
Relentless (almost caught up)
And that $3 Light novel translation... Overlord ^^

You can get several books by JD Kirk for $5.
I could have gotten Mt Fitzroy for $5 if I waited a year. Heh
Still looking to see what I'll get. Very short list thus far.

I resisted the power of our friendship! lol
Pirateaba doesn't consider the Wandering Inn to be really LitRPG. So, there's that.
I've read other stuff by eden Hudson and I'm all blah about it.

Overlord is daily deal, so it expires in a few hours... just fyi, can't wait 3 days...

Audible's sale system is weird... not the first person to have trouble finding a supposed sale...

If I like it, I'll end up reading it after LMS. It is only $3. Undecided.

I spent $32 on the sale... gotta build that library, lol... mostly UF/Mystery/LitRPG, I think... nicely different from my backlog of Sci-Fi/Time travel/etc from last year, that I still haven't read...
And I still wanna do Finn Fancy with you,Soo CHOKO... after Wandering Inn #2 and Invisible Library #8 BRs... should be free for a few days after that, at the end of the month, if you can get ahold of the book... otherwise I'll probably go ahead alone...
And I still wanna do Finn Fancy with you,

The reviews were strong, so I went with it...
I'd call Wandering Inn a LitRPG, just for simplicity sake... but I mean, really... the RPG elements are pretty tame... you can go hours/chapters of story without classes/stats being mentioned...
I don't need another genre like isekai, to try and keep track of...

Iain, why did you put The Court of Broken Knives on the Not for You shelf?
I'm almost done looking at the sale.

I think I tried reading it once or twice and DNF'd... that shelf exists for books I tried but didn't read enough to do a rating/review, basically... from what I remember...

Yea... starting a new series is a tradeoff... whether or not I want to buy all the books, or buying is the only option because libraries/etc don't have it...

When I saw that some of the audiobooks for the KU are on Hoopla, I got two by an author that I've seen around, but haven't read yet.
Sweet deal right?
Wayne Mitchell is the narrator for Brightblade. There's nothing wrong with his voice, but I can't stand his fake accent (some Australian/Brit/Other mashup) for the MC. Technically, I should like the way he tries to act out all of the lines and dialogue, but I just kinda want to shoot nerf darts at him?
First time I've come across a voice and narration that just rubs me the wrong way and it's not because of the sibilant stressing of the letter 's' or killing the story by just not narrating well.
