I was making a recommendation post for Brian and my browser crashed. There goes all my hard work.

Brian, read Seal Team 13. Books 1 & 2 are on KU. I have #2 ready to read. Loved #1.
Also, try Charlie Parker series by John Connolly if ya haven't already.
For Brian + Vagabond Crew I'm down to BR these. They're on Audible Plus.
- The Knighthood#1
- E-Day #1
- The Written #1
- The Haunted Forest Tour
- And Then She Vanished #1
KU

Brian: we can do Charlie Parker in the Mystery thread if you try it... I read the first 4 forever ago, but need BR Buddies to help me continue... the books are kinda wild with a paranormal bent...
I think I've heard of Seal Team 13 before...
@Soo: I need to look into the rest of your list, but I read the first 2 Joseph Bridgeman books a few years ago, and picked up 3-4 on sale over the summer, to finish out the currently released books... it's got some complicated timey-wimey rules... starts off as an amateur self-taught time traveler, and stumbles into an organization with rules/knowledge for books 2+... I think this was an indie author picked up by a publishing house and did some re-edits of the first 2 books...

It wasn't always... maybe I wasted my money, but I don't think I paid much, let me check... got them in August for under $6... hard to say exactly, because I got 4 books for $25, including 2 Malazans at the time... originally, only the first 2 were on A+

Need to do another KU membership search in Jan/Feb. I think my KU ends in May-ish.
prices went up last summer... the discounted price is 172ish now, since the full price went up
And I had to call my bank to get the discount, because it was autoflagging as suspicious/fraudulent... bank had to called visa and audible to figure it out, and temporarily disable fraud protections, then I bought and disabled my card online for 12hrs until fraud protection turned back on at midnight...

172 is the same 40% off that 144 used to be... the only way to get better is those short term 1-3 month deals that are basically free trials... that might be worth it, for you, to just pick up when you're in the reading mood... especially if you can get them as gift codes and use when you're in the KU reading mood...

Dittoing Choko--was totally getting crazy vibes from Horizon... do not trust that shiplady.
I like the guy who is even more OP than the MC, and likes a good fight...

Totally been wanting to read that, especially seeing the Broken Binding's very shiny versions of the series... good to hear it comes well reviewed!
re: other Vagabond stuff--I've signed up for practically every BR under the sun but will cram stuff in when I have holes... especially interested in the Kate Elliott--I've been wanting to read more of her books.

😆😆
Horizon Crew: Isn't it funny that all the people presented are interesting and yet COMPLETELY FORGETTABLE? 🧐
I believe crew member 1 was a dude, 2 was the love interest necromancer, and not counting Varic since he's like the captain.

Destiny's Champions #1
Doing my due book research diligence before adding to maybe Audible + pile.
This book has over 400 ratings on GR. 4.2 Stars!!! Most of the written reviews are 1 star. The books in this series are 4 stars.
🧐🧐🧐
Dang, I think this author has over 200 fake accounts to up rating.

I'll see about squeezing in any Vagabond reads when they come up... Still haven't gotten around to BOC BOC BOC though...

I think BoC is the only BR that's happening right now. Ones I recommended, think they're up for 2024.

I don't know why, but I never thought about the math of how all the reviews could be 1 star but the rating 4 stars... for some reason I thought I just wasn't being shown the 4 star reviews... then my brain is like... "y'know, most people don't actually write reviews..." *facepalm* Thus the importance of writing and reading reviews!

Current Audible 2-for-1 Credit Sale
Audible Fiction selection made me laugh a lot!
Like finding fantasy novel in Romance. 🤣🤣🤣
Fiction selection is great! Lots of fantasy and SF.
Goodreads / Amazaon / Audible seem to be trying to iron out the Romantasy category...
I'm trying to catch up on my ratings/reviews before the end of the year... be caught up for the first time in 2-3 years... about 1 hr/day, doing 20-30 a day... I'm 250 behind... out of 500 reads this year... *sigh*
Caught up through July 1 now...
If I do this, take the data and transfer it to my Incomplete Series spreadsheet, and setup the 2024 Competition Sheet next week, I'll be all sorted :D

I think GR calmed down a bit on CAPTCHAs... I haven't been asked for any yet, but I also haven't gone overboard, spending 5-6hrs in a single day, either...

And every time I hear "Ti Gu" it sounds like "pigu" to me... which means butt in Chinese...
it's supposed to be Tigger, translated by people/world, into Chinese syllables, I think?
Same with Chon Ki and all the other animals named after famous fictional English media animals...

Hahahhah Ti Gu = Butt! Yah all the animal names are chopped up English stuff.
Farm Trade: You get to see developments for that in leaps. Part of the hand wavy elements for me is that (I believe) the author is basing a lot of influences from Chinese Light Novels. That's like loving Bugs Bunny and Friends, then writing about the US. 😆
He does do an ok job of setting up a pseudo hierarchy that's a weird mashup of medieval Europe and feudal Asia. That kinda goes across to socializing, trade, etc.
I don't think anyone was supposed to 'like' what the trade family tried to do, but that kind of thing isn't new and there are several hook Jin by chick moves.

I was planning on buying the audio, but I'm down for membership read instead and purchase audio down the line.

Author passed away but review said this can be read as stand-alone.

🤣🤣🤣
Quote: Ready Player One meets Gladiator in this high-octane thriller that mixes black ops espionage with fight to the death combat in the arena.

Whooo.... sounds interesting

Finally found time for Meru (Alloy Era 1)… KU read and listen I added to my TBR from a GR banner list last summer…
The narrator purposely reads the alloy / genetic cyborg parts a bit roboty with hard ends to every word…
The ze/zir pronouns are a bit troublesome for me… specifically ze, and I think it’s just the preponderance of Z nicknames in fantasy already… Ziebolt Adelbertsmiter in the Metcy Thompson series… the 3rd male romantic lead in the Dark Hunter series… maybe some others… so it sounds like a name…

Yeah, I can wait. Plenty of books in the listen soon-ish pile. 📚🤓📚
The Henchmen books are packed into a bundle for 1-5. I read up to 3 while the books were on Audible +. I got that set on current sale.
Woo boy! I'm gonna axe Galaxy on Fire: Publisher's Pack. 💩💩💩 Total poo show. It's rife with toddler logic. I listened to a chunk of book 1 before falling asleep and woke up to a chunk near the end of book 2. It's a 1-2 bundle on Audible +.
Dumbest comedy show I've listened to this year. Except, I think it's supposed to be smart humor. 🫥🫥☠️🫥🫥
Need to NOT confuse The Henchmen Chronicles Collection: A Portal Fantasy Adventure Series Craig Halloran with Craig Robertson.
Halloran is good.
Robertson gives SF a bad rep. 👎

Is it good?
Reserving my judgment for now…
So far, seems like robots have same flaws as human progenitors… want to keep ruling galaxy… humans limited to earth for damaging terraformin…

Maybe the series could be a "fun" take of Murderbot? Naaaaaahhhhhh
I can let slide a robot with a digitized human personality thinking of itself as human. No flesh parts not a cyborg. Pseudo clunky robot that magically woke up while salvage bot was taking wannabehuman apart. 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️
Then I listened to the worst logic train, mental monologue about why the kidnapped kids are in "x" place.
Followed by robots flirting and a grumpy ship AI that hates everything. The robots decided they want to get married. Asked AI to marry them cause they're on ship. More 💩 should be funny but isn't scene.
Meru started interesting/strange... now I'm 1/3 of the way in, surprised by the romance angle, and worried that there's 2/3 of a book left, and what it's going to be like, now that the subverted friend robot has shown up, to assist the higher up guy who wants to shitcan the project/plot of the book (involving an experiment to see if humans can be trusted to live on a planet other than earth, without damaging it...
)
The "friend" has been tasked with finding proof of failure, or to orchestrate failure if no proof exists (like I said before, human flaws, holding onto power, I'm leaving out alot of details in my quick and dirty summary)... the main robot is deleting footage to hide the budding romance, and now explaining to human, and it's gonna cause all sorts of angst or "reverse-angst" for the rest of the book, I think, or a large chunk...
Re-checking-in on some of the reviews has me a bit worried, since some people that liked the opening didn't like the book anymore from a little bit before where I'm at, and comment on how they feel like the worldbuilding was built to setup this romance/etc, and that the stakes are super low, since humans generally live on a utopian Earth where they don't need to work, and robot bees pollinate the plants/etc...
Kinda killing my desire to listen to another 12hrs of story, even if it only takes 4hrs...

Speaking of GR Banners, I only recognize like 3 books on that "Big Books of 2024" banner... definitely has me thinking about what people were saying about the GR awards, and Amazon trying to increase sales...

The rest are no idea, never heard of book/author.
I wish trash YA stories didn't become a thing. Way more of them written now.
