Just finished Aussie author Anni Taylor's suspenseful One Last Child (Tallman Valley's Detectives, book 1), which takes place in the beautiful, mysterious Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Complicating things is that one of the abducted children is Detective Kate Wakeland's granddaughter.
4★ My review of One Last Child
This is a bright, appealing children's picture book that would be good for pointing out shapes and finding items from one page to the next. Chelsea O'Byrne is both author and illustrator, and it's lovely.
4★ My review of If I Were King with several of her illustrations
I've been reading an ARC of The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley. She is such a talented author. I loved The Guest List and this new one is just as good.
Finished and enjoyed Free: A Child and a Country at the End of HistoryFree: Coming of Age at the End of History by Lea Ypi

The Art of War may be the oldest book I've ever read, but it is truly a classic on warfare strategy. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4562831953

Reading a short cozy, Room with a Clue. I've had this on my Kindle for 10 years, probably one of the first books I downloaded!!

Well worth reading, even though I rated it a lot lower than most people do (I'm glad I read it and would have rated it higher if I were younger). She has many great things about her writing and my beefs are all spoilers (some of them are in my review as spoilers, so don't peek until you've read it.
I just started reading A God Against the Gods by Allen Drury. Book's been sitting in the bookcase for years.

Thanks!
I finished The Scarlet Forest: A Tale of Robin Hood
by A.E. Chandler. My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Another one for the kiddies (and grown-ups).Love Grows Everywhere is a charmer of a small picture book by Barry Timms with some enormous ideas, wonderfully illustrated by Tisha Lee. Diversity and acceptance abound in glorious colour! I want to live there. 😊
5★ My review of Love Grows Everywhere with several of the illustrations
One for the word nerds, like me.Jumping sharks and dropping mics by Gareth Carrol explains a lot of the idioms and phrases that have slipped into everyday English. Some I know and use, some not so much. Very entertaining.
4★ My review of Jumping Sharks, etc with several examples
For fans of the Netflix show "Love is Blind" (I've never seen it, but liked the idea of falling in love by talking and not by seeing) and perhaps for others like me,

Here is my 3 star review of the cozy mystery A Fatal Booking
by Victoria Gilberthttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Well I have been in yet another rut. Have too much time on my hands that I'm not actually doing anything. Tough times. I've finally started to pick books back up, so I have a few on the go to keep my mind interested in different subjects and genres. I'm reading The Key to Tarot: From Suits to Symbolism: Advice and Exercises to Unlock your Mystical Potential On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft and The Secret Garden
Hoping with the range it will help me from getting caught in another of my episodes..
The Complete Harvard Classics - ALL 71 Volumes: The Five Foot Shelf & The Shelf of Fiction: The Famous Anthology of the Greatest Works of World Literature
The Stranger was my introduction to its author - Albert Camus. It wasn't what I had expected at all from its synopsis but its zeitgeist was a curiously intriguing aspect. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4565705108
I'm just finishing up Tales of the Peculiar, which has been interesting in a fairytale sort of way. I'm about to start The Four Winds next.
Facts and Other Lies: Welcome to the Disinformation Age, by Aussie author Ed Coper, is just as unnerving as you probably gather it is from the title. The current division in many democracies has been caused by bad actors with thousands of automatic bots that set us off down fake rabbit holes. Started with the printing press, escalated to social media. You may be sent one way, while I'm sent another. CLASH! If democracies crumble, guess what happens next?!
5★ My review of Facts and Other LiesIt's long, but I've included a lot of examples from this terrific book.
My 4 star review of Tough Justice
by Tee O'Fallon:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Romantic suspense.
I finished An Atlas of Extinct Countries
by Gideon Defoe.My 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Reading two really good books, The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson and The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis
The Art of War: A Graphic Novel by Pete Katz and Sun Tzu. This graphic novel with bold, colorful images is a great way to learn the ancient military treatise. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4517376193
It was such a delight to meet the fantastic Amanda Gorman in the bright children's book by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. So young (only 24 on the 7th!), so talented, so inspiring. America's first Youth Poet Laureate.
4.5~5★ My review of Amanda Gorman with some illustrations and a photo
The Murder Rule by Dervla McTiernan is a departure from her Irish detective series. This finds a US group trying to rescue wrongly convicted people from Death Row. But were they wrongly convicted?
4★ My review of The Murder Rule
Hurray! Aussie author Adrian Hyland finally gave us a new book! Constable Jesse Redpath is another smart, tough female character from the Northern Territory. She's stepping on the toes of the local Victorian cops, investigating a death at Canticle Creek. Excellent!
4.5~5★ My review of Canticle Creek
Everyday Magic is hardly everyday, but there's plenty of magic. Jess Kidd has written a delightful book for youngsters, which is fun for grown-ups, too. Orphan, witches, potions, it's all here!
4★ My review of Everyday Magic
I've finished a couple of new items:Buried in a Good Book
by Tamara BerryMy 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit by We Are Bookish
My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished The Golden Couple
and I thought it was SO good! I figured out some of the end, but there were enough moving parts to keep me guessing on some of it and the way it was written kept great pacing. If you can accept that the therapist does a lot of investigating, it's a fabulous read. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
