Plum-crazy | 27 comments Last year I decided to broaden my horizons from my usual crime/thriller/horror books & read some non-fiction. As I really enjoyed what I read I'm aiming to read a further 12 non- fiction books over the coming year. (1 a month was do-able!)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'll just try to remember to report as I go along.

The Price of Altruism: George Price and the Search for the Origins of Kindness is my first read. It was frustrating; my next 11 will be better or they'll get dnf'd!
4* Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction
4* Calling All Minds: How to Think and Create Like an Inventor by Temple Grandin, not just for kids.
4* Humans mostly photos.
5* Unseen City: The Majesty of Pigeons, the Discreet Charm of Snails & Other Wonders of the Urban Wilderness
4* The Art of Slow Reading: Six Time-Honored Practices for Engagement
3* Creative Reading: What It Is, How to Do It, and Why

March 4th

Seven already (not counting children's or dnf's). Reviews have been written for each. I will very likely read a lot fewer, proportionally, the rest of the year, as I'm kinda tired of non-fiction.

Plum-crazy | 27 comments Finished my first three books (forgot to post them - oops!)

1"A Dog's Life in the Dale's" - Katy Cropper Interesting but a bit slow at times.
2"The Year of Living Danishly" - Helen Russell - really enjoyable & interesting read that showing how life in another can be very different to what you've been used to.
2 "Scarlett Says" - Scarlett Moffatt - a fun read but I often felt the age gap between us!

message 7: by Plum-crazy (new)

Plum-crazy | 27 comments Finished book 4 a couple of weeks back "Tales of the Gypsy Dressmaker - Thelma Madine

I'm not getting on very fast with this challenge! That said I read one book "Tales from the Black Meadow" thinking it was going to be about hauntings & supernatural sightings but it was more folk tales so don't feel I can include it. I've also got not one but THREE other non-fiction books on the go, one of which I'm particularly struggling with so might give up on it.
