I set my goal to 55 books. I'm still trying to figure out the new "normal" after retiring. It's somewhere in this region.

madrano | 23661 comments This is a good way to keep count. For me, i'll keep up my own chart. I've been learning more & more how GR helps folks keep tabs of their reading, thanks to posts the last couple of weeks.

Wow ! You certainly did. It's amazing. Thanks for the stars, it helps to know which ones you enjoyed.

John | 1943 comments I can read several in a month, but that was indeed quite a feat!!!

madrano | 23661 comments Annie, what a terrific reading month you had in December! Thanks for sharing titles. I recognize a couple of classics, including What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge, a nice look at a young girl becoming educated by her content "invalid" cousin.

The fresh look at L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz through the eyes and art of FujimaraMamenosuke Fujimaru sounds great.

I hope the new year brings you more multi-starred readings!

Sreya Nagarik (sreyanagarik) | 2 comments Hey guys, I am Sreya, and I am really new to the entire world of book clubs and discussions here on Goodreads so I hope I am doing this right :)
I have recently been getting in on a lot of the books that you would usually see on Booktok - for those who don't know Booktok is basically a section of the app called Tiktok where content creators talk specifically about various books. I have recently finished reading The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, Beach Read and People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry and some others. While I love most of what I have read, there is a whimsical nature to each of them which allows me to think of them not as much as other books I have previously read. Something about booktok books makes you realise that they are intended for the audiences that watch the reels, with an attention span that is fleeting, only these books are easy to consume within one sitting.

madrano | 23661 comments Sreya, welcome to Book Nook Cafe. I haven't spent time on Booktok but like the idea that people who like one genre can learn about books others have read in that genre. Like likes like, so to speak. I suppose the flip side of that is what you mentioned about one-sitting consumption. Interesting to note that. Thank you.

People We Meet on Vacation sounds as though it could be fun but your point is well taken. It sounds as though it might need more meat & less whimsy. Over the years, i find that my taste changes &/or i need a break from my usual books. It sounds as though you may be at that point now.

As you'll see from our book posts, we have a wide range of interests here. I hope you find something that clicks with you. Good luck!

Hi Sreya. Thank you for joining Book Nook Cafe.

I don't do TikTok but I've seen The Love Hypothesis and People We Meet on Vacation on many best of lists. Glad you enjoyed them.
