Hi Colleen, I think we have been on a team challenge before together. Not sure what though. We also had some over lap in favorite books. I'm curious did you read or listen to Lincoln in the Bardo?

Annalisa | 1659 comments Hi Dänah, Please remember to post a link to your UNO shelf. Thank you.

Is my green cover book work for Green 6 too?

message 55: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments Alyana, I added your book for a green 6. I am borderline on thinking the cover is 50% green. I do remember discussions from last year on if it was green or blue or neither, but I don't remember the outcome.

message 56: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 617 comments Let me double check and if it doesn't work, I can always change it.

BookishlyWise Hi Annalisa. did my color books did not work for any color card? i sent in the claim way sooner than others I see for the claimed colors :(

message 58: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 149 comments I think I may have one for Green 7
Would this book work?

Emerald Green (Precious Stone Trilogy, #3) by Kerstin Gier
Author - Kerstin Gier

7 - Character in meta details - Gideon de Villiers
Skip - Kerstin

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 503 comments I've updated Message 14.

Ash, your blue, green and yellow covers don't seem to work for this round, unless there are characters that fit the cards. I'm not sure about your Red books - if they fit 2, 3 or 9, please let me know.

Maggie, I'll confirm about Emerald Green, because I'm not sure if the surname can be taken as 'Villers' or 'de Villers'.

I just checked from TinEye, the cover has 68.9% green. But if anyone has a book for Green 6, I'm okay with it. I think two colored cards is enough for me to claim.

Hi Ash, I checked your colored books, and this is what I think that can be used for the cards.

Klara and the Sun
works with: 5, Skip, Red

Dark Matter
works with: 5, Red

The Lightning Thief
works with: 0, 1, 9, Skip, Green

Love and Other Words
works with: 6, 8, Skip, Yellow

Colleen | 293 comments @Annalisa - maybe! It's so hard to keep track of who teammates are sometimes in these challenges - I'll for sure remember you now! ;)

I read Lincoln and the Bardo. It would be way too confusing on audio IMO. There are a lot of characters, which you somewhat get to know in the print book as you can flip back. Someone warned me, so I knew not even to try and listen. I'm getting better with my audiobooks - I'm choosing more carefully and trying to keep the audio the "easier" ones.

message 64: by BookishlyWise (new)

BookishlyWise Thanks Alyana!! i was about to sit down and find those for the books!!! you rock!! :)
Annalisa - Now given for Alyana found for my books do you think any of those will help? I'll plan my reading accordingly :)

Hi Ash, We do not have a red 5, Green 0, 1, 9, or a yellow 6 or 8 this round. If you do not want to read the books immediately you can wait for our March books and see what we get there.

I'll put Dark Matter in for a WD4 as it will work for a Red 3 with a character named Ryan Holder. I read during a past uno or I never would have remembered.

I listened to the audiobook and loved it. I was on a road trip and it was a little hard to keep up with all the characters but I still thought the audio was very well done.

That's good enough for me. I'll leave you for the Green 6 and you aren't able to get to it or don't want to read for it just let me know and I'm sure we can cover it.

Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 149 comments I know you’re checking on my book. I’ll be able to search for more for Feb and March slowly over the week. This one is a bit more jammed than I anticipated.
I’ll be checking in though.

message 71: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments Hi Maggie. We are very set for color cover books for this early. We only have a few that aren’t claimed so I think at this point we can all sit back and relax while we wait for uno to start.

I’ve yet to go through my books so no idea what I have yet. I am a mood reader so I have a hard time planning books.

message 72: by Insiyah (last edited Jan 17, 2022 10:58PM) (new)

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 503 comments Updated Message 14 accordingly.

Most of coloured cards are claimed, so there's nothing much left to do but wait for UNO to start.

Ash, if you want to read The Lightning Thief in Feb, it can be used for a Reverse card since I think half the people in this group have read it.

Kristen and Dänah, can you guys post your UNO shelves so that Annalisa can make note of them?

I was a mood reader as well, but I kept wanting to read books and then losing them somewhere between my physical library, my ebook library and my TBR shelves, so I ended up spending hours making a spreadsheet to track the books and the many, many challenges they work for. But then again, I love organizing data, so I had a lot of fun playing there.

Annalisa | 1659 comments Hi team - I have a quick question would you all reply.

Do you prefer to use a tracking sheet for books or not?

If we do use a tracking sheet I am still going to request that you post completion posts on the team thread following the example here: Completion Post example. The reason for that is you might have read the book and it isn't listed as a reverse or you know that it works for a card that isn't listed you can let us know. That can be really helpful.

I'm good with or without tracking sheet. I'll just use mine to track my reading.

Annalisa | 1659 comments @Insiyah I'll take the Green 5 with How to Twist a Dragon's Tale (How to Train Your Dragon, #5) by Cressida Cowell

AND all of our color cards are claimed now.

Blue 2 - Insiyah
Green 5 - Annalisa
Green 6 - Alyana
Green 7 - Maggie
Red 2 - Jessica (draw 2 Red 2 and Reverse)
Red 9 - Alyana
Red 3 - Dänah
Yellow 2 - Alyana

4 Wild Draw Four (this is a repeat of one of the books above. They can only be duplicated once.)
WD4 - Insiyah Green 7
WD4 - Ash (Red 3) Dark Matter
WD4 - Kristen Blue 2
WD4 - Kristen Yellow 2

I'd say that is pretty amazing since we only opened the team up two days ago! Thank you everyone.

message 84: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 293 comments Maybe both the tracking sheet and the completion post then - since I'll have to refer back to the sheet anyways to reference what it works for. I hate to duplicate efforts though. I'll just go with the majority rule.

I'm Ana from a little town near Paris, France. I've been playing this challenge since 2016 and I love it :D. I didn't read for a while, though, i'm in HUGE reading slump rn so I hope that UNO will push me to finish the books I'm currently in to take a fresh start in February

So happy to meet and play with all of you!

message 91: by Annalisa (new)

It’s helpful because I’m aware of everything on my TBR and actually pick things off of it every once in a while.

Annalisa | 1659 comments Hi Team -

I hope everyone is excited for the Restaurant to start serving.
I'm really looking forward to reading with everyone! Here is the count down to the start of UNO.
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

We have a planning sheet that Insiyah put together for us to use.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... You can put your books on there or just post completion posts on this tread. If you do use the planning sheet I ask that you at least put a minimal completion post on this chat. If you see someone else has posted and the book says that it does not work for a reverse and you have read it please let us know that you have read it.

Examples of completion posts

Completion Post if only on Thread

For the number of options column, maybe we can use the "array formula" to count the possible options for the cards? Instead of showing the number of options, it will show the possible cards (0-9, Skip and Reverse).
