I'm getting late on my reads, so I grabbed the audios of Reckless Girls and The Christie Affair to help speed me along. :) I also grabbed A Flicker in the Dark. It is a debut and sounds good. It also has some really good initial reviews from my Goodreads friends. This adds 3 to my shelf and brings my feedback ratio down just a bit to 94%. I hope to finish them all this month though.
My shelf is pretty low so I did some requesting over the holidays.
Approved for
and
which is exciting, but both are only downloadable as protected PDFs that expire in 50 days. Ah. So annoying

First review of the month done and it was for one that I had the ebook and audio for, so two off my shelf and my feedback ratio is back up to 95%. :) Reckless Girls
my Reckless Girls review
Oh, I hate when I get protected pdfs, Karen. That's disappointing. I thought The Maid was really good though. I hope you enjoy your reads.

Thanks! I think they will both be great reads, but now I need to prioritise them due to the expiry date! Plus I find reading protected PDFs so much trickier than kindle. I am trying the netgalley shelf app which is slightly better than adobe reader at least.
Got approved for
which is available on kindle. yay!

I'm thinking about picking up Sundial, because I loved her last book, The Last House on Needless Street. It's a read now for a couple days, but it publishes March 1st and I have quite a few books right now. I was hoping it would be offered as an audio. I have about 5 that I'm considering. Two read nows (including the one above) and three widgets. I wish I could read faster! lol
Karen - I was thinking about requesting that one, but ended up just adding it to my TBR to read later. Glad you enjoyed it.

It’s a fast read (just as well as it was one of the ones that they only give as a protected PDF!). If you enjoyed her other mysteries you’ll have a fun read

Oh, thanks. I try not to get protected pdfs when I can help it. I have plenty to read right now and a few widgets I'm still considering, so I have plenty to fill my time. I always need to remind myself that I can still read them after they are published; I don't have to get them through NetGalley.
Does NG tell you ahead of requesting that it is a protected pdf?I just requested Sundial Kristie. I hadn't read Needless Street (I have it on my list), but that one looks good.
I also finished and reviewed one this month
Somebody's Home.I really liked it, but she has a certain writing style. I had read one of her others Best Day Ever (which I loved, but a lot of people hated). I don't know what it is called but she writes like a train on thought in someone's head and it is like sarcastic or tongue in cheek a lot of times. To me it is funny and I get her and have some others on my list by her.
Vicki Willis wrote: "Does NG tell you ahead of requesting that it is a protected pdf?..."Yes, the information is on the book's page below the description. It says "Available on NetGalley" and then lists the formats available below that. It's easy to miss since it's at the bottom of the page and not near the request button.

oh thanks - they snuck that on there!! I requested that a few years ago, as we were talking about it in this group, and at the time they said they would take it on board. Had no idea it was now on there xD

I finished
which I realised too late isn't published until June and I should have read something else first. haha
The concept was better than the execution, but may still be a worthwhile read for fans of magical realism

I just added
Stay Awake which I am looking forward to. I read another by her The Night Swim, which I really liked.
Oh, I just added it to my TBR. I didn't know she had a new book out. I also really liked The Night Swim. I may have to request Stay Awake too. It doesn't publish until August so there's plenty of time to read it.
So happy I read
It has been there forever because somehow I didn't download it in time when approved... an then libraries were closed for month and months last year. So I finally got it and read it in two days!

I got reviews written for two so far in Jan. Sadly both were only 3 stars. One is from Nov 2021 and one this month, so doing better.

I was sent a widget, so of course pressed the button. I loved her debut novel.
This one doesn't have a cover yet
which means I have at least a few months to read it :)

, which I really wanted and
, Pub: 3/1, which I really don’t want with all the other books. I am not on pre-approval, so can get easily backlogged with too many books. Thanks for doing this. It really helps me look at my books and remind myself to only have 2 or 3 a month and actually read them on time! I am going to try and finish all my books from January if I can.
I got a all books done so have 25 to go. May try to get 1 more done this month. At 88% Feedback.

I am not going to get many more books read this month so I posted everything on my OG post https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Review #5 for the month! The Christie Affair - I was really torn between 3 and 4 stars on this one. I may still change my mind. I listened to the audio with my husband and he is giving it 5 stars though, so I don't know... maybe it's just me. I'll think on it and see how I feel in a couple of days.
