This was a series of possibly three books if not more. They were paperback with black and white covers illustrating the Female MC (with splashes of color) and the setting. For some reason, I think the MC was a British orphan somehow on her own in Paris. Each book had some sort of mystery/adventure plot. I think historical figures featured as characters in the story (ex. Gustave Eiffel). Not sure of any of the other specifics. At the time, I didn’t think they were the most engaging but they were unusual and had a good sense of setting and character. They may have illustrations within the chapters as well. I read these books in the late 1980s or early 1990s and they were brand new at the time. I found them while working in a bookstore during that period.
