When I hear "paranormal" I think vampires and witches or angels and demons, and I'm not interested in that.

Pilgrimage: The Book of the People

Huh. I wouldn't consider X-Men to be science fiction, since their powers are caused by natural mutations; they aren't creations of science. To a certain extent, anyway. Wolverine's adamantium frame would be science fiction, or Cyclops' goggles, but not their underlying powers.

Looks intriguing, I'll check it out. Thanks, Pamela!

I've never read anything by him before, but I might check out the Odd Thomas series. Thanks for the recommendation!

I hate to be so argumentative, but if you really want little-to-no violence, Odd Thomas is probably not the best choice.

I don't enjoy alien/space themes. Not interested in romance, either.
I especially like when characters have special powers (invisibility, mind reading, time travel, etc.)
Thanks in advance!
