I haven't read any of your books on this list, but I really like the authors. Fingers crossed that these are good ones. I always duplicate what is on my Individual Challenge too. It keeps my brain straight. If I have too many lists going, I lose focus. Good luck with your choices, can't wait to see what you think. :-)
Mary Roach is always interesting, but I haven't read Packing for Space. And Helen Oyeyemi is also good. Enjoy your list!
I've only read The Island of Sea Women and as much as I usually like Lisa See, this one was not a favorite. Not bad, but not as good as Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, have you read that one? Good luck with your choices, can't wait to hear more about the others.

Disappointed to find two of my books are currently unavailable, so alternates will have to replace "Stiff", and " A Psalm for the wikd built.

Depending on library or online store; those may be unavailable. I found Stiff at a thrift store. The library around this time is a luck of the draw. Just from what I have noticed.

Good luck with your challenge!^^ I will be reading The Night Circus as well for my challenge, if you are interested in a buddy read I would be glad you done one with you for it :-)
Alondra wrote: "I've only picked up Ring, Shout; but have quite a few on my list."I really enjoyed his Djinn Series. I think he writes better the shorter the work.

Yes that's exactly right. It may be available at a later date. I can also attempt to look for updated versions. My Library also holds and delivers books to Homebound folks and if a book has a lot of requests it may be unavailable until the requests are filled.
Irphen wrote: "Good luck with your challenge!^^ I will be reading The Night Circus as well for my challenge, if you are interested in a buddy read I would be glad you done one with you for it :-)"How does a Buddy Read work? I've never done one.
Alix, great list! I've read The Plot and The Island of Sea Women - liked them both and I'm interested in several of your other choices.

Oh, really??? I need to look into that!

Well it's quite simple, we read the book more or less at the same time and we discuss about it in a discussion set up previously and which indicates the book we are going to read. It's to give our opinion on certain passages and reflection anything linked to the book :-)

Try "The Haunting of Tram Car 015", or the Free 36-45 page Kindle book" A Dead Djinn in Cairo". These are set all in the same world with recurring characters (The Agents). The detail he crams into 124 pages is amazing.
Irphen wrote: "Alix wrote: "Irphen wrote: "Good luck with your challenge!^^ I will be reading The Night Circus as well for my challenge, if you are interested in a buddy read I would be glad you done one with you..."That sounds like fun. If you'll set it up I'll find the thread and we can read together.
Double checking on the Book, I am Reading " Nights at the Circus", which is different frm "The Night Circus"
Nights at the Circus - what I am reading
The Night Circus - what you said you were reading

XD But actually I've been wanting to read Nights at the Circus as well so we can do our buddy read ;-) I just don't have a copy of it yet so won't be able to start off the year with this buddy read ( also have a couple of other buddy reads planned for the beginning of the year ), but maybe around spring would be a good time?

Maybe there will be another book to buddy up on later.
And one down. Hurray. 5 stars, I really enjoyed the non-fiction elements combined with the fictional story of the haenyeo free divers.
I’m ridiculously excited to see Ring Shout on your list. I loved it when I read it last year. P. Djèlí Clark is such a fantastic author. Have you read his other novel, A Master of Djinn? He also has some novellas and short stories that are great reads. Hoping you enjoy Ring Shout as much as I did.Good luck on your challenge.

I read The Haunting of Tram Car 015 first then the short A Dead Djinn in Cairo with Fatma as the agent (I love her), and read Master of Djinn last year. Loved, loved, loved them.
